ITs like my house. 2.5 years ago it came on the market and while we were not looking to move it really was "the house".
there was some unique features to it and 10 people looked at it the first day. By noon the next day I had my offer in (full price) as did 2 others! I had 24 hours to up my bid. I increased by 5% and won. Don't know what the others bid but the house to me was still under priced. The house needed only cosmetic changes as the bones of the house as was the utilities were in top notch condition and the house was in amazing shape.

The point?

Price is only an issue in the absence of quality!

Dolan over paid for Melo but he is a quality pick up. Not injury prone and just in his prime. He is bit charismatic by nature he can be marketed and sell lots of tickets.

In retrospect I rarely think about the price I paid because the old house sold quickly (closed two weeks before Lehman Brothers collapsed)and we are really happy living here. We made some changes to it and really enjoy living close to family, friends and can walk to some things.

On the court, tt will take a few short seasons to determine the value of this trade. If we are contending then it would have been a worth while trade. I think from a business standpoint its good for MSG. Does it create a contender? That will be determined in the future.

I think it will take two seasons to determine the value of this trade. We can argue it endlessly but in the end its the wins or losses that count for the fans and dollars and cents for MSG and the WhoreLord who owns it!

Its still baffling how they kept saying denver (over the summer and right up til the inevitable trade) wasn't high on any of the knicks players and the nets, bulls and every other team had a better package..

Last time I check utah is on a 6 game losing streak and have only won 5 or 6 games with primarily the same pieces they where sending to denver..Not to mention most analyst and media outlets were saying our players benifited from MDA system..even some of you agreed with this notion.

This is just a testement to how walsh had put together a pretty good team from scratch and would have developed in to a very very good team. Its going to be a crying shame if his contract does get the re up

Okay, so does that give us the green light to start the McHeat threads once Eddie's in the fold?

Not when Mozgov is dropping 20 and 10 every night, Gallo turns into the next Dirk, Felton becomes CP20 and Wilson turns into the Willow Man!!!! Seriously, good post, people have trouble letting go of the past.

The very near past... and it is still a bad trade, whether or not Denver is able to attract "stars."

Glad to see you guys buying into the company line.

You thinking of changing that screen name of yours, by the way, Mr. FeltonandAmare? If you keep it too much longer one might think that you're having trouble letting go of the past.

I like the trade. Denver is not winning crap with this squad and neither would the Knicks if they didn't pull the trigger.

Don't be so certain. The playoffs are a battle and the Nuggets can run out two complete platoons.

Gallo will be an all star in two years. Guaranteed. Mozgov did work against Bynum.

We gave up a lot to make this deal happen so its not surprising that the team has looked shaky at times because of a depleted roster. The thing that bothered me most during that stretch was the lack of intensity. The team seems to be getting its bearings and Stat and Melo seem to be getting more comfortable in their respective roles, Billups seems to be getting his game back after a nasty injury. Just in time for the playoffs.

Nuggets showing they are able to compete. Yet everybody gives them little chance. That is a deep squad.

Olbrannon - Did you say "deep"?

That is an understatement. The Nuggets have TWO complete teams

Ty Lawson, who is sometimes second-shifted with Felton for hyperspeed
Afflalo, 6'5 with solid skill set
Gallo, 6'10 all star by 2013
Martin, 6'9 and effective
Nene, 6'11 big man who was (and should be) ours

Felton, who was our scrappy co-captain
JR Smith, 6'6' stick of dynamite, nearly so gifted as Kobe (his brain is another matter)
Harrington, 6'9 did not hang on the rim yesterday
Chandler, 6'8 rugged and graceful, rebounding and defense
Mozgov, looks fluid and has great footwork for a 7' BIG man

Anderson, 6'10 comic relief role player who brings extra effort
Koufos with fouls to give at 7'0

One more thing, you cannot teach height

The Tale Of The Tape

The Nuggets can run (with confidence) 5 different players who are 6'10 or taller

The Knicks have only one player (Amare) to fit that description.

Jared Jeffries does not count.

Yup. Their length really bothered the Lakers yesterday. Denver is a very exciting team.

Were you vested at all in your old house?

Not sure what you meant. We were were happy in that house. we lived there 12 years but all the memories we have we take with us.

My analogy was about potentially "over paying" for it.

I was not in favor of the trade as I was a big fan of the departed execept for Eddy. In fact I don't watch asa many games. I think for Denver it was a good trade but they were deep anyway and got deeper after.

So I was vested in the "departed" and while I worked hard on my old house and the two acres of propery, and the maintainence it took, I have a nicer home.

Granted, when we moved in it was not as "nice" as teh older one was. It took two years of installing new floors in some areas, carpet, paint, new kitchen, expand and rebuild veranda, etc. Now it is. And its in a better area and potentially better investment even though I plan to retire into it.

I think the knicks have a higher ceiling with two stars on the roster. I hope they can fill in the team with players who can get it done. Personally the games are not as much fun to watch. Melo is a great talent but I don't like Iso type ball. watching Bernard kings back to back 50pt games was great but I was like 19 when that happend and the team was not a contender.

Over the Years I enjoyed watching the Suns play ssol and I enjoyed our yoots this season.

Yeah, I'll root for the Knicks but this is not the finished product.

If next season were so important Dolan would have allowed Donnie to wait.

If post any trade you go in and beat a surging Laker team on their home court on a sunday game is very exciting. If that happend most of the UKers would be stringing pearl necklaces in a group circle jerk just spouting what a freaking god is and Walsh is exec of the year!

I don't know if Nuggs cut salary next year and what they do with their expirings but there fans must be excited NOW and they could do some damage.

Im ok with it all this season because while MSG is selling NOW its stupid to get exicted about this team until we fill in some huge roster deficits.

We in the playoffs, we gets swept, So what. Who was expecting we go further? Maybe if the trade was not looming and not done our yoots could have made it to the 5th spot?

Trade is done. I like Karl, Like the "departed" and hope they do well!

Why Do Fools Fall In Love? (number 667 in a series)

It's NEVER stupid to get excited over your beloved hoops franchise. Unwise perhaps, but fans are SUPPOSED to get stupid for the smallest of reasons. Hope. One could argue that Dolan's impatience to give away a shopping list of assets, just sell higher priced seats in the new Garden, was stupid - but it is just business.

As a fan I do not share Dolan's profit objectives because it ain't my money.

The trade is done. Denver has two complete teams, while we barely have four consistent contributors and play without a center. Can the Knicks catch lightning in a bottle as they did in 1999? Maybe. Maybe not. Bear in mind the 1999 team had muscle and it had height. Either way, the lesson is the same as it was in 1999.

We have a long way to go.
