6'9.5 Stat, 6'8 Melo, 6'7 Fields, 6'3 Billups and 6'2 Douglas.

The Wish List: 6'11+ Center, 6'11 backup center, 6'10 forward, 6'6 guard with a handle

That's eight

Piece of cake

Footnote: 6'9 Shawne Williams can stay. That's nine.

I think that should be our starting line up, and I am really surprised MDA has not gone with that group. He might be afraid of the criticism that would follow.

However, I think our problems late in games has been execution, spacing and ball movement, maybe having 2 pgs out there would help.

he's under pressure to play bigs. I agree that might be our best line up, but we MUST defend and rebound and that group will get killed (maybe).

I would try it... but here's another caveat: I dont think we have that stamina. W the old team and Gallo, Chandler, Felton, Mos, Fields, TD.. it was a much younger group.

Melo is NOT in shape. He's got NO legs in the 4th qtr. Amare isnt looking springy either. Billups is 34. Going small only works if you have the legs. We dont anymore. They are in Denver

STAT guarding C's and Melo guarding PF's and Fields guarding SF's is not a combo IMHO that works.

You literally have zero interior defense. And zero help side D except for Amare, who is average at that at best these days. And then you also would have nothing off the bench in terms of spark.

what did you think the other day when MDA (I dont care about D and dont play centers) started Sheldon Williams?

We have a lack of talent on this roster.

they don't need offense, they need people who will play D.
Turiaf is a good defender, if only he was able to give us solid minutes without being hurt all the time.
We need a wing defender and a defensive center.
it's mind boggling they let brewer go as he was supposed to be a wing defender.

Jared Jeffries was supposed to be the shutdown defender this team needed, so far he's been worse than i remember him being, which is pretty incredible in itself.

Can't wait to see the next Knick Chic rant about the lame Fishlips return.

Yes there is a huge lack of talent. I don't deny it, The team needs a legit Center that bring some offense and a lot of defense. Its painful to watch Turiaff and Jefferies and to some extent watching Amare play center. I hope they bring in Barron maybe a stop gap type player but he could help the Knicks out a lot with his rebounding and ability to hit the open 10-15 foot jumper which he displayed last year. Is he the answer for the future probably not. Still would like to make a play at Jason Thompson or Hassan Whiteside for the future.

we have to hope and pray Walsh is in this for the long haul... any of these other guys under Dolan's wing dont have what it takes to build this thing up. We are really bankrupt short of Melo/Amare. Douglas and Fields can make a nice bench and Billups is simply old. We really need an infusion (again) of young talent that fits the style of play. Then we need Amare to take over this team and everyone else to follow do what the phuck he says.

"The N.B.A.’s top teams are, of course, built on superstar foundations. But true contenders are armed with second-tier stars and capable role players. When the Knicks acquired Anthony, they filled one gap and created another — a fact that Donnie Walsh, the team president, acknowledged at the time.

Gallinari and Chandler were willing passers who complemented Stoudemire and kept the floor spread. Now, defenses are more prone to pack the paint. Anthony’s isolation plays make matters worse.

Before the Knicks can rise above mediocrity, they will have to restock the lineup. Eventually, they will need to find the next Gallinari and Chandler."

No no. JJ is not a shutdown defender. he is a decent 1-on-1 defender and a very good team/help defender. And he can guard multiple positions. That's his MO.

Don't overrate him. This is not Rodman in his prime. Or Artest without a shot. Very different.

I cant even say he's that good of a help defender. He's active and willing, but makes a lot of mistakes too.
