How about Randolph Morris? trust me i doubt anyone thinks he's gonna solve all the problems... i just think he'd do a better job on the boards than Jeffries is doing now & give us some better size to match up with other teams' centers... plus he can actually knock down a jumpshot if he's left open. ![]() How is it that everyone just believes Berman on this? Since when does he have the pulse of what MDA is thinking? Did he ask Walsh specifically if he wanted Barron, but MDA didn't? I'm not saying this isn't true, but why is it that some automatically believe a guy that no one every takes seriously. I mean BERMAN? Come on. I guess as long as it's something negative about MDA, then it doesn't matter who the source is.

Well I'm more inclined to listen to Berman over some guy on the street---the man get's paid to cover the team. I think he's got a better understanding of what goes on behind the scenes than your average guy. He's around them all everyday. That said, listen to this Berman video blog clip from when we had Barron the first time around a year ago...1:33--1:48 D'Antoni talks specifically about Barron and what he brings to the table..WTF, now all of a sudden he doesn't like the guy anymore? LOL..I never said this guy's Hakeem Olajuwon, but he's a clearcut upgrade over what we have at the position right now..Sounds like there was a time when MDA would've said the same thing. Now, all of a sudden, it appears he's drastically changed his tune for whatever reason. It's a shame, we could really use this man. I happen to agree with Berman throughout the clip btw--everything he said about Barron a year ago applies right now imho: |

![]() I Just don't understand why we have not signed this guy. He is a better jumpshooter than Turiaf, Jeffries, and Williams. He is a solid rebounder and defender. He does not excel at blocking shots, but the guy can guard centers. We need this dude bad. I simply don't understand the delay.

![]() Right now it seems the problem is D'Antoni, if you believe the reports out there. It seems he wont guarantee he will play him over Turiaf and Jeffries, so Walsh hasn't moved to sign him.
This is inexplicable since Barron had some success in this system under D'Antoni and our need for a center is huge and will be exposed even more in the playoffs. It has already been mentioned he would be playoff eligible so why not try him out!? Knicks_Fan

Barron has size, can hit a jumpshot, and will play decent defense. He is exactly what this team needs. It is time to let the Jeffries experiment end. Trust the Process

Walsh probably asked coach and coach said no, or he would be here. Clearly he performed well here last year so something strange is up. The team needs Barron. He is the only center I see out there that can do the two things MDA needs to play him, play some level of decent defense and rebounding and hit an open jumpshot. If I am Walsh, I tell MDA that this team needs a center bad and Turiaf and Jeffries are not the answer. I am going to get Barron and I am putting him on the bench. If MDA does not play him, then you consider whether MDA is the right coach. If MDA plays him, then I think he will mess well with our current players. This dude should have been resigned long ago. It is amazing this guy cannot get a gig considering all the stiffs sitting on teams benches. Trust the Process

![]() I think there is a personality issue with Baron. He played pretty good last year next to Lee for a nice stretch. I'm shocked he hasnt stuck around. He's a legit 7 foot body and he rebounded very well. Nice little jumper, etc etc
Walsh was asked about this and his response was he didnt feel Barron would contribute enough that merited cutting someone. Would he even be playoff eligible? "winning is more fun... then fun is fun" -Thibs

I read the version you spoke of in regards to Barron but I also read that Walsh wanted him and D'Antoni did not. I think it is getting hard to give D'Antoni the benefit of the doubt when it is in regards to playing big men so I think it has more to do with D'Antoni. ![]() At TheKnicksBlog, when the subject was brought up, they posted an article that stated Barron, after the 2nd 10-day contract, is playoff elegible. It read that the only thing stopping the return is D'Antoni.
