We gave up alot, sure, it stung, yes...But to say Donnie wasn't part of this is crazy...

why is it crazy?

of course he was part of it, he said he was on the phone with dolan while dolan was making the deal lol. oh, the coach was on the phone too. maybe they used facetime? can you talk 3 way with facetime?

I am a bit concerned about where things are with leadership for this team. I think D'Antoni and Amare had a nice thing going and both were thriving from the role Amare had as the team leader, vet and superstar. I don't think things are as clear cut now. I see D'Antoni as being a guy that likes to let his star vets lead the team. I don't know how much of that is happening now that Melo and Chauncey are in NY. Amare was the leader, Chauncey is a leader, and Melo is a star. I am not sure how things shake out. I don't know if D'Antoni's reliance on player leaders will fit well with this group. Its too bad he didn't have them together in training camp.

Are you implying carmelo is not a leader?

I don't know if he is but that wasn't the point I was trying to make. I think there might be a few too many strong personalities in place for D'Antoni's style of player management.

I hear yah. I challenge with this - if amare, chauney and carmelo all have a leader mentality, why does it matter if they have a strong personality?

People who are whining right now - I can pretty much guarantee you'll be happy come playoffs time and even happier next season. We have a core now, a core of REAL stars. The roster just needs to be adjusted to suit them. That can happen over the next season or so.

The recent losing streak is directly related to Chauncey playing his first two games in this offense after missing a crucial two week learning curve stretch with an injury.

Calm down.

Other teams stars play defense. Ours don't.

yeah, kobe's really into that lockdown stuff these days. nash, too. and dirk.

once donnie has time to build the roster around these stars, the team will be fine. and by fine, i mean, like 60 wins.

the issue right now is an unbalanced roster, because the trade shock everything up.

Kobe is a very good defender. Is this a joke?

Kobe WAS an elite defender. Now? Watch him - he takes a LOT of plays off.

He's still good for 33 years old. The point is these guys are not Dirk's age, Nash's age or Kobe's age. Billups was a great defender until he realized he was 34 years old.

Our guys are both 27, 28. None of them have ever played defensive up until this point in their careers. Either they will change that or they wont accomplish anything. LeBron and Wade in comparison have made All-NBA 1st Team Defensive teams.

I disagree - Kobe started coasting as a defender around 2003 or 2004.

Most teams protect their superstars by building a team around them to complement their game and hide their faults. The Knicks haven't had that luxury yet.

Chandler could have been used as sign and trade fodder.

Its all behind us now.

We would've had to renounce him to sign Melo. A sign and trade implies taking something back, meaning we wouldn't have had cap room to sign Melo.

It's not behind some of us, clearly. Though it probably should be.

everyone stressing out here should read this quote and take it to heart:

The public expects a juggernaut, no matter how many times the Knicks insist they need time to establish an identity. Four inexplicable losses, two each to Cleveland and Indiana, have only heightened fans’ anxiety.

“It’s great — they care,” Coach Mike D’Antoni said, before adding a bit of wry advice. “You know, take some Prozac or something. Hang in there. We’re hanging in there. We’re pedaling as fast as we can pedal.”

That prozac line was pretty good.
