We're basically melding 2 different styles and it's not easy to find a balance on D with guys who historically aren't that good defensively. I think it's still a bit soon to pass final judgment on this group.

They win 3 in a row and then lose 3. To me they're still figuring this out.

Just one correction. IIRC, most people said 10-15. We're basically there. My main concerns are the PG position and C position. My main concern at PG comes from the fact that we can't be a running team so much with Billups running point, and that's MDA's strength.

A key cog on most any team except perhaps the triangle is the guy with the ball in his hands: the PG. Knicks were doing OK with Billups before his injury. Gonna take a few more for him to get his sea legs back and then a few more after that to get acclimated with his teammates.

10-15 may be a good number to throw in the air but mostly it's the days OFF that really matter, and the Knicks have had scant few of those this month. Just bad timing. And in fact, that long road trip right after trade was probably a blessing, but also short-lived.

Melo in no James, and Billups in no Wade.
And scrubs and rookies are scrubs and rookies.
Stat will not get new legs and Tony will not grow more brain.
Walsh will not get younger and Dolan will not get smarter.
And yes... tickets will not get chipper...

IIRC TD has a master's degree. Where's yours?

What is his - "Master in turnover over assists"?

That being said, this is not a complete roster right now. We need to reserve judgement until next year on the trade and the coach. Let's see what they can do to make it right.

Didn't you know? Coaching is the least of our problems.

Why do we need to wait? Denver has an immediate impact from the trade, but we have to wait? We got the best players in the trade, didn't we?

Knicks did get the best player in the trade but that's not the totality of the picture, is it? I mean, we understand this, right?

They gave up 3 solid rotation players and 1 who was our only big man. We got 2 back and 1 of them has been hurt.

Denver gets back a balanced team. They had a starting PF, C and Ty Lawson was a heavy part of their rotation so they don't miss too much of a beat, even with Gallo hurt.

Knicks are not a balanced team by any stretch, and I don't think it's too obtuse to suggest that it's harder to integrate a guy like Melo into what is left with the Knicks then it is to slide Gallo/Chandler into Melo's slot while starting Lawson and having Felton off the bench.

It's not so much that we HAVE to wait, but that is WILL take some time for this trade to come to better fruition as has done in the short term for Denver.

Not all trades are equal, and with this one in particular, nor should the immediate expectations.

Just another hole in the substrate.

What Melo does is 90% one-on-one play. His #s as a Knick are about the same as they were on the Nuggets. I don't see why we need to wait another 5, 10 or 15 or whatever games.

But the makeup of his teammates and system is dramatically different. Melo played differently during Olympics, he can do the same here and that will be key to long term success.
