Well maybe if he played Corey Brewer who can actually play D or maybe give Sheldon Williams a little burn being that no one else could stop Hibbert why not give him a shot. Or maybe he doesn't advise his team to funnel everyone baseline when he knows that no one is waiting to help. Or maybe after a bad loss where there was no defense attempted whatsoever, he should not talk about shots shots shots after the game when he should be talking about defense defense defense or boxing out? It's always about push the ball, shots, 3's (30 of them) were not falling.
Why should Amare or Melo play Defense if the coach could care less. They need to shoot and fast and run and shoot. Defense? No need on this team.
This is to the point where its akin to defending Ray Handley.
these guys are pros... maybe MDA should take Melo and Amare aside for some one on one coaching on how to box out? Maybe he should bring them into his office and "talk" about playing harder on defense? How do you think that conversation is going to go?Seriously dude... Ive enjoyed reading a lot of your posts but this talk is silly. Sheldon Williams is terrible and has had a terrible NBA career but its OUR coaches fault for not playing him? Thats your answer?
Wake up. We have two high scoring forwards who have ALWAYS been suspect defenders. Now its the coaches fault because they dont play defense? Just like it was the coaches fault for not getting Marbury to be a better team player.
Melo's last coach said he didnt play much defense also didnt he? You know Williams, Douglas and JJ play? Because they defend (someone has too)
Hansbrough drops 50+ on Amare over two games but Sheldon Williams is the key. Your gonna have to better than that

If Melo was so bad why was Denver begging him to stay. Denver was a winning franchise and went deep into the playoffs and it was because of Melo. They had other guys playing defense. If you know Melo and Amare are not great defenders them surround them with people who plays great defense. Not 3 point shooters. If we had a good Center and seven footer who could defend and rebound we would have won this game but no no all we talk about is a point guard.
Denver didnt beg him to stay. They offered him an extension. Then they traded him for king's ransom. Melo is a good player. Thats never been in question. But he's a poor defender.
when you say surround him with big players who defend... you mean like a 6'10 Gallo? 7'1 Mosgov? Those kinds of players?
The question isnt if Melo is good. He is. The question was is he good ENOUGH to give up a truck load of good players for. So far no so good.
This year is most likely a waste. Knicks will be 7th or 8th and get swept in the first round (which will be the coach's fault, the players here BEFORE the trades fault, or Dolan's fault or maybe ISiah's fault)
Then with only a mid first round pick to work with, few other assets and no cap space it will be Walsh's fault (if he's here) for not being able to surround them with the proper talent to win. Then it will be the next coache's fault not playing career garbage players like Sheldon Williams and Cory Brewer. When will it be Melo's fault? Maybe when he's playing in China selling $20 shoes?
