He's not playing in his comfort zone imo. D'Antoni has him playing like Wilson Chandler out there, taking his man off the dribble from beyond the arc. Sure, Melo can do it, but every defender has one eye on him when he has the ball and they are more then ready to step in and take the charge by the time Melo even gets to the hoop.

Melo says he doesn't want to play "bully-ball" anymore, but a lot of his foul calls were from his spin moves while posting up, not from the dribble drive and getting a blocking foul.

Give it time though. It'll be an adjustment period, as I'm sure even if D'Antoni doesn't have him posting up more, Melo will learn how to avoid the charge or pull up for the bunny jumper the more he plays this style.

It reminds me of when Amar'e had no idea what to do against all the double/triple teams he faced early in the season and he'd just bulldoze his way over 3 defenders and pick up the offensive. Notice how we haven't seen that in like 30 games now?

One thing I noticed about Melo is that he does not finish high. He tends to look for contact and drive his body into the defender. I am not sure if he is capable of dunking over people but that is one reason he does not get a lot of calls.

Exactly..he's lowering his shoulder on some, the other night in cleveland was as blatant as ever, he's knee was in the guys chest. He is one of the best mid range shooters in the game yet he drives more then he should, and since he's so strong he just bullies his way through sometimes.

i love bully ball and melo's ability to wreak havoc with it. he's gotta gauge the refs' rulings on a given night and he does need to sell more.

I love it too. Love the bravado. Love that he'll drop his nuts on the table and say "my balls are straight up bigger than yours."

Come playoffs I'll want him to be smart, but there's a cumulative effect to playing that way. Like in "Major League", how the one Yankee messed with Wild Thing/Charlie Sheen's head

Agree, because to be Kobe you need the rings, which he will have a chance to get soon. And to be Lebron, you need to disappear in fourth quarters, which Melo thankfully doesn't.

First one is priceless! May be number 10, but Lebron makes it be #1!

i don't care about the lack of superstar calls... he hasn't been getting obvious ones. the charge call against the cavs to end the game was not a charge and should have been a block and maybe given the circumstances should have been a no call but a charge it was not.

there have been other examples but he is not getting the same calls as he was in denver...
