Throw in Amar'e, a 2014 second rounder, and 3mm so we can reacquire AR

Kevin Love will become a restricted free agent after next season, unless he signs an extension between July 1 and Oct. 31. Charley Walters of the Pioneer Press reports the Wolves don't want Love on the market in 2012 and plan to offer him a max contract.

Walters writes: "Love can look forward to a contract extension offer of five years in the $70 million range once a new NBA labor deal is reached, a little birdie says. The NBA's collective bargaining agreement expires June 30. Love, 22, can become a restricted free agent after next season. The Wolves have no intention of letting him get that far."

The new collective bargaining agreement, as Walters points out, will determine the length and amount that max contracts will be worth. There is a very good chance that the actual max offer will be less than the five-year, $70 million projection.

Either way, the Wolves will do whatever it takes to keep Love in Minnesota long-term.

Sucks to be a Minnesota fan. Kevin Love gets stats but they are still a lottery team.

yea, he is a good player, but not a max player... the wolves are horrible and he is their best player so far.. not a good sign..

Anyone who sits around and waits for the lottery to better themselves, either in real life or in sports, Is a Loser............... TKF

Not even. Zach is almost as good of a rebounder, plays just as bad defense, but is a better offensive player without question. Randolph > Love

Love next to a Kaman type center makes sense. Love next to Amare means Amare stays at center. Love ia a power forward, a very good one. Love next to a euro style makes sense.

How is Darko doing?

I'd take Bogut for this team over Love any day of the week except Tuesday

he has a shot at the Rodman zone... Dude's getting 15 a game right now. Man, with his passing, boarding and shooting would he look GOOD on our squad

He deserves it. He pads his stats sure... but he's a player

<ignored>

must be on his ignore list

nyk4ever wrote:what is wrong with giving love the max? the guy isn't a goto scorer but he makes a great second option for a chamopionship team and the guy is easily the best rebounder in the league - it's not even close. does his defense leave something to be desired? yes, but he makes up for it tenfold on the offensive end. you put a defensive center next to him and you have a hell of a frontline.

Sounds like someone we used to know. We called him our own dibble double machine before we sent him to GS for cap space and trade fodder. Rebounding is great but not at the cost of defense.

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

I agree. I think he's already an elite offensive player. He's scoring 20.9 with only 14.4 attempts. He can hit an open 3, he gets to the line a lot and he's only 22 years old.
