I want OJ Msyo to be be tutored by Billups. Mayo is a very good guard but he needs to improve his handle and decision making. Going up against Billups everyday will surely help him.

I started it and it had nothing to do with last nights game or CP3. Just watching these guys play and brainstorming a bit what the best path to take is. I try to avoid the knee jerk reactions. Thats why I like Walsh... slow and steady wins the race.

I think the Knicks will look to refill the cupboard with cheap guys like Derrick Brown and their 2011 draft pick and maybe Jerome Jordan and some other small moves over the summer. I think they'll maintain flexibility to see if they can make one more big move for 2012.

edit: But I agree a wiser move at this point would be to keep Billups and Toney at the point and see if they can add some quality role players at the 2 and the 5. Or not even role players, but good young quality players.

Contrary to the beliefs of some anti-trade people on this board - it is pretty easy to add those guys. Clippers got Deandre Jordan in round 2. We got Mozgov in FA. We just need to add a few guys like that.

Paul's knee injury scares the crap out of me. It seems like he only has enough juice to play well every other game and right now he is in a prolonged slump.

I think Deron or Dwight might be far safer targets.

Deron... all the way. Not even a debate. Plus it would DESTROY the Nets. God, can you imagine? Deron is ALL about winning. A team w/ Melo and Amare would be pretty enticing to Deron, possibly even for a bit less money

I agree with the principle that we don't need another max player. I would look at a guy like Marc Gasol as a possible center.

I wouldn't make any predictions on CP3 until next season. Leg injuries are always tough the year after.

And I don't know if this team needs a 3rd star, but it definitely needs a 3rd wheel or a guy who can go out and constantly get 15pts a night. We also need a sixth man imo.

But would the knicks be better with Paul/Deron and filler or let's say a Devin Harris and Anderson Varejao type players.

Why? Goes against the philosophy that most around here seem to support- the more stars the merrier.

If Amare, Melo, and Isiah want another star- especially a PG, whoever is GM will be pushed to get him.

Pretty obvious that the stars (and their agencies) are choosing the sides, and they are not going to let certain levels of management deter them from getting their way.

Makes me think that the players themselves are going to force contraction on the league.
The have-nots will start to have less and less, and it will be impossible to sign FAs.
Those teams will starve, and the NBA will contract.

Since this thread is already being hijacked into a CP3 vs. Deron debate, and ignoring the original premise of the thread (lol), I'll just add:

It's tough to tell whether CP3 is injured or dogging it. I can't tell. He doesn't have that same step as he did in '08, but at the same time, he also seems to be going through the motions right now. This kid used to have a strong competitive fire, much like Garnett back in Minny, but it doesn't seem like he's giving 100% with the Hornets right now. Maybe he's looking at the super-friends in Miami, followed by Carmelo's move last month...and thinking to himself, "I don't want to be here anymore."

I'd still take Deron over CP3, as there's no health risks, but I wouldn't completely write off CP3 just cause of his recent play. Playing in NY may rejuvenate him, and a motivated, healthy CP3 is still a top 5 player in the league.
