Not in Phoenix he couldn't.

How much do we actually know about what kind of opportunity he had in Phoenix.. did he get decent burn?

He was behind Frye and Robin Lopez in the rotation, so not really.

I was still never impressed by Earl Barron. Ever. Not once.

Jeffries had several games where he impressed me. And he'd be an interesting look to throw at a DWade or Lebron on defense. He's a good hustle guy, knows the offense, knows what coach wants and plays well.

He's horrible on offense, but in case you didn't notice - the offense is going be in the hands of Amar'e/Melo/Billups about 90% of the time.

Thats just not fair... the guys had at least 2 double doubles... he busted it and impressed with a nice array of post moves attacking the basket.
His size clogged the paint... I cannot fathom why you would say that about Barron. It can be hard for journeymen that have been in the D league to et burn ahead of guys with large contracts. Barron did nothing to alienate fans with his play last year... many on this board were upset his agent gave him bad advise and he wound up in Pheonix.

You know why Jeffries is a bad signing for any money? Because he's bad at basketball....

JJ skinny would be great. Anyone that thinks otherwise didnt watch him play here. He an Barron would be very good additions. MDA liked JJ because as VMart often quotes MDA loves guys who defend. JJ is a very good passer and can defend 5 positions. Baron is just a big body to crash the boards. Of the buy-out players we would certainly be high on my list. Go defend the best opposing scorer for 20 minutes and set picks. Its a good fit here. If he's bought out he will be a Knick. MDA loved him and he liked being here. He also defended Lebron quiet well in that Wash series where Arenas went off and made it a tough series for the Cavs

I am fine with JJ coming back but I would prefer Barron. Why Walsh has not cut Roger Mason and signed Earl Barron is beyond me.

+1

i swear, it's like some people didn't watch Jeffries play here. of course he was horrible on offense, but extremely capable on D.

He is terrible. He's comically bad offensively. Luckily we have two 25+ PPG scorers so going 4 on 5 on offense wouldn't be as debilitating as it was when he was here, but JJ just isn't very good at all. I think we have a much better guy who can do what JJ is theoretically supposed to do- Corey Brewer. He's a very long player and can guard 4 positions- plus he's not quite as hopeless offensively.

I think the Knicks should sign both.

If they don't sign Barron, I'm guessing it's because MDA doesn't like him that much.

edit: I honestly thought Barron sucked. I would rather check out Jerome Jordan.

Guys literally no one would stand within a 10 foot radius of Jefferies on offense. He had like a radioactive forcefield around him. No matter how open he was he couldn't stick the ball in the basket. Major liability.

His defense was alright but I never saw this guy as a lockdown defender. I watched him plenty- he was one of the worst regular rotation players I've ever observed. If Quentin Richardson didn't play here I'd have said that with more certainty.

LOL...

we need a centre that can roll off the pick and roll at least as well as Turiaf no matter how good he is at D...

I thought I read that the Knicks plan to bring Jordan back for training camp next season. Probably too messy with the Euro team and learning on the fly to bring him back for 27 games.

Signing Murphy is a no-brainer for him & the Knicks. He'll be starting Center and will get plenty of burn.

9 man rotation

Pg: Billups, TD
Sg: Fields,(TD)
Sf: Melo, Brewer or Walker
Pf: Amare, Shawn Williams
C: Murph, Turiaf

I will take my chances in the playoffs with that squad. Billups is the key. If he can keep playing like he did last night, this team can surprise in the playoffs.

Did the Warriors release Murphy yet? I'd prefer Murphy over Jeffries BY A MILE.

I think the knicks rather Murphy also. Its a question if Murphy wants to come here. If not I would take Jeffries( who I hated with the knicks previously) and Barron and cut Balkman and Mason. We need size. Desperate times=Desperate measures

fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

STAY AWAY FROM MSG. THE ERA OF KNICKS TEAMS WITH AT LEAST 2 JJS ON THE ROSTER ARE OVER!
TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

Murphy would be nuts not to wanna come play here --- we can gaurantee him the starting 5 spot, the team's on the up & up/ready to make some noise and he'd been coming to play for a offense-friendly coach who would make great use of his skills...The only thing is we might have a little competition for his services with Boston..Heard they're interested too..We're on the up & up, Boston's already there..And now with Perkins gone, they might be willing to offer Murphy a starting spot as well..I'd be nice if we have someone in the league office that could notify us the min Golden State releases him, this way we can be one of the first ones to reach out to him..I'd hate for Boston to get to him first..It might come down to that--first one to call and make an acceptable pitch lands him.

Dude, this post is a joke. Anybody that doesn't agree with you didn't watch him play? I'm usually with you fishy, but this time, really, get over yourself.
"And MDA loves guys who defend"? Now you lost all your credibility.
Besides which, I believe all this touted defensive prowess is a myth.
Here's at least one ranking system that seems to agree with me. And its just the first one I looked at. Feel free to find one that disputes it.
http://www.82games.com/nichols1.htm

JJ is a bad basketball player. Regardless of how you try to discredit anyone who thinks so. I've been very happy since he's been gone since I have liked all the players in the rotation since then. Please, PLEASE, don't bring him back.
