Look at Oklahoma, they are building from within. THey are doing it the right way. When needed they add a piece or two and they will be contneders.

NY had good young players, now they don't.

Oklahoma hit on 2 straight lotto picks. When will we have the opportunity to do that?

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

It's a dysfunctional cluster **** right now, but a great NBA 2k11 team. Enjoy playing this on your video game consoles, because that's the only place you'll see this team succeed.

even on 2k11 it wasn't a cake walk..i agree with you, but billups is a smart pg, never really had the luxuary of playing with 2 super stars, but just like felton..I expect his assist to head north, just off of pick n rolls...we are going to avg about 110 point per game

We'll get another crack at it this Sunday.

9. They bonded on the west coast trip and became a team
And have been 22-18 since. Nothing to sneeze at. But we're not talking about a team that's been tearing the league up thereafter.

8. They took Boston to the buzzer
And lost, don't forget. We'll get two more shots at them this year.

7. They were just one game away from equaling last years win total
As they still are now. Fortunately we didn't give up any wins in the Melo trade, although I'm sure Dolan was willing to put that on the table.

6. The never took a night off, even when their shots were not falling
Don't mean to trivialize the value of this by any means. But "not taking a night off" had us hovering around 500 and still losing to the Cavs. Let's see what the new bunch can do.

5. Loud chants of "Moz-GOV" that reminded us of smiling when we heard "Wing-GO"
Out with Moz-GOV, in with Me-LO. Close enough for me, and rhymes better with Wing-GO.

4. A winning streak that caught us by surprise
From the looks of the reaction to this trade from Knicks fans, any win streak from here on out will be a surprise.

3. Donnie Walsh's leadership
Can't disagree with you here.

2. They ARE playoff bound
Fixed.

1. They made us proud to be Knicks fans again
To quote you misterearl, LET'S GO KNICKS

I will miss the chemistry that unit of guys had. Sports is about developing emotional attachments to guys who don't know you exist.

But to call what guys like Wilson Chandler and Timo Mozgov brought to the table "irreplaceable" is kind of laughable.

Guess what? We replaced Chandler and Gallo with Carmelo Anthony and to a lesser extent Corey Brewer. We replaced Felton with finals MVP Chauncey Billups. We'll replace Timo with Earl Barron.

The replacements make us a stronger team. I will miss the guys who left, but if the goal is to build towards a championship - this was a necessary step. Our ceiling before was a Memphis Grizzlies with Pau Gasol, Mike Miller, Battier, Swift, Jason Williams type of team. Now? The ceiling is far less defined. It can be much higher, depending how they surround the nucleus of Stat, Melo, Fields and Billups.

Somewhere, Donnie Walsh is packing his office trinkets and poring over cruise brochures.

I don't think anybody is happy with what we gave up. And I think the holes in our team are obvious, as is the train-wreck of our front office.

But at this point, after two years of the LBJ saga and one year of the Melo saga, I'm all tapped out in the speculation department.

Let's just let 'em play and see where they take us.

Plenty of time for venting and renewed speculation in the offseason.

3. (continued)

"Donnie Walsh. Walsh's work here is probably done; it's tough to see that contract extension being picked up now. Marc Berman of the Post reported this morning that Walsh was so left out of the Anthony negotiations that he went to visit family in Indiana over the All-Star break. He has been pushed aside, and, with this current roster, it's not like he has that much to do anyway. (Deron Williams or Chris Paul aren't coming here because of Walsh.) Walsh will be remembered as the man who cleaned up the Isiah Thomas/Jim Dolan mess and made the Knicks relevant again ... before handing the reins back to Isiah and Dolan in the end, after all. Even if you believe Walsh is being mistreated, all told, getting Carmelo Anthony isn't the worst legacy to leave."

Other than the hottest rookie in the Gaaaaaaammmmme, Landry Fields, we are going to get lit up inside by quality opponents. We have no center. None. Turiaf is brittle. Stoudemire cannot handle big bodies by himself, Carmelo has NEVER been considered a defensive worker and Billups is 49 years old.

Who got Paul Pierce?

For that matter, who has 7'1 260 pound Andrew Bogut tomorrow night?

bingo, because we all know that turiaf will pull a hammy during the intro... we have not one 7 footer on this roster now..

Denver and the Nets are two of my most hated teams right now. How can you root for a team that just pillaged the Knicks?

He will be missed the most.

No team wins with incompetent management and politics behind the scenes that create chaos. That atmosphere has once again returned to MSG courtesy of James Dolan.

This is first and foremost. I dont have the big problem w/ Dolan telling Walsh to make this deal that some people do. Melo is a 26 year old all star and wants to be a Knick and clearly Dolan walked away wanting this guy, so broadway has a new Diva.

Knicks got a good player but it wasnt a good trade because we were in a position of power and totally failed to take advantage. In fact, we got played losing all our prospects, picks and chips that might be used to a) improve from within or b) flip for other better fitting pieces.

That being said Walsh is a good builder, and if he's given the reigns I believe he can balance this team. The question is how long...

The pro Diva guys argued that having Amare made us a win now, and we had to get that 2nd star. Fair points. Problem is by trading literally all our depth and now having zero quality size and depth in the frontcourt we are certainly NOT equipped to win now.

How is going to play center for this playoff team trying to compete not for a title? Where is the size coming to compete w/ Bos? The Heat? The Bulls? The Lakers?

Who is going to play PG? Now that ours is 35+ years old, and doesnt want to play here?

We got the 2nd star, but also undid a lot of luck that Walsh created.

I read a report that said walsh was in charge of this deal completely. I don't beleive that, but whatever..

This team has a lot of holes.. vescey made some good points in his article.. people are all giddy about the trade. hey ,it is something new.. right? Honestly, losing all of that talent, when melo could have just waited, hurts... really does.. and these were good kids who performed well in NY and loved being here.. just sucks man.. really..

I am not rooting for denver but rooting for the knicks guys to do well.. and it is the knicks fault that they got pillaged, can't blame denver for getting a great deal.. what kind of thinking is that?

Uh, I don't know if you guys remember our worst loss of the season - but it came with Mozgov starting and trying to guard Bogut and getting embarrassed.

Also Felton, Gallo and Wilson played that night and combined for 26pts, aka Melo's average.

So. yeah. Bogut might kill us, but don't act like Mozgov was the Bogut stopper, please.

Of course you can't reasonably be mad at one team for doing what's best for them... but there's no room for any more anger at Dolan, that's been maxed out for years. Gotta find new outlets for it!

crzymdups - Mozgov, at least, provided an inside presence and was improving with experience. He was a rookie.

the idea is at least be able to match up at every spot on the floor with respectable size. The idea of D'Antoni deploying Shawne Williams at center is not particularly appetizing.

Just cuz the team isn't a finished product after the trade, that makes it a bad deal? It's not like this is it and we can't do anything else to improve the team. We have such a good core that any solid additions will make a much bigger impact. This is a talented core we have now. We haven't had this high a level of core talent since the last title team. Now we just spend time putting good role players around them. Which by the way we already have some good role players. Fields & TD are still here. I like what we have in Walker and Shawne. They can really stroke the 3 ball and they have been improving on their D. They'll get a chance to do a bit more and show if they can step up another level.
