Thats been my position. I think Melo and Amare won't work right without a PG like Felton. I'm not big on Billups at this point in his career. Want a quicker PG who can attack the lane more.

I also can't see this being a deal breaker for Denver..Billups only have one year left on his deal and If needed I'll be willing to throw in 7 mil for half Billup's salary for next year..

IDK feltons outside shooting has been super inconsistant lately, and so has the knicks play overall..billups knocks down 3's at a pretty decent clip..take gallo out

Also, I wouldn't be giving up anything more than Chandler, Curry, Randolph and filler if I was at least 80% certain Melo only wanted to sign in NY. Don't negotiate against yourself is rule no.1. Isiah did it for Curry and killed the franchise- no one else wanted Curry.

Billup won't be as effective on the pick and roll because he doesn't penetrate well...Felton is a much better assist guy...Billups doesn't push the ball...Felton become the third option in this offense...Better defender..younger..Cheaper and can stick around...Billups is almost done...

So is his contract, where not winning any titles this year, and his expiring contract is worth close to max $ next year.

He still has a higher IQ, which is something very much needed, keep in mind denver runs just as much as the knicks if not more, there leading the league in scoring and billups plays a couple miutes less then felton, they also have have a better record in a tougher conference

Was going to start a thread about this but...At Stern's State of the NBA speech this past w/e...He stated one of the most important things to be addressed in the CBA is having all 30 teams play on a level playing field..i.e. Franchise Tag...No way after LeBrongate and now Melodrama this is not adressed in the new CBA...Counting on guys like CP3 and D. Williams is turning in to quick pipedream...Bird in the hand worth more than two in the bushes....

100% yes. Chandler is gone anyway and Eddy Curry and AR are not part of the teams plans anyway. In reality it's Billups/Anthony for Felton/Gallo. If Moz has to be included so be it.

I find this line of reasoning ridiculous and bordering on absurd. So you own a house and decide you need a bigger one, would you try to sell the one you have or walk away from it since it has no value - as its not in your future plans? Just because we can't sign someone if we do sign CA, is somehow supposed to mean we should not value that person or that contract?

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

Word. It's such a non-thinking argument it's hard to fathom anyone even suggesting it. The notion that Chandler and AR are throwaway talents really disturbs me and is the sort of BS that moron Broussard likes to tout.

In fifteen years from now, every one of the Knicks we're offering is gone. Therefore, they all have no value!

Papabear Says

No and not because it is too many players. It is because we are being played by Denver and the Nets. Without Melo the Knicks will sellout every night. The last 15 - 20 games were bad for the Knicks. With Mr. D taking over this means bad news for Walsh and D'Antoni. What did Walsh do to upset Dolin so much.

I'll offer Curry's expiring and ONE of Fields, Mosgov, AR, or our 2014 pick. That's better for Denver than losing Carmelo for nothing and if the alternative is giving up any more than that, then I'd rather pursue other FAs.

Absolutely, positively YES!
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

I wouldn't do it; and if Chandler and AR are so useless to Denver then pull them back.
The new new core: Randle, RJ, IQ. Maybe Mitch. Future pick. Future trade. Future FA.

nope...

I would offer Chandler, 2014 pick, Mozgov, Fields and Azabuke's expiring deal + 4 million in cash

That is the best I would give when competing with just myself for a one-dimensional all-star

hell yes. If you told me the Knicks would end up with Amar'e, Melo, and one of the three best rookies in the NBA last offeason, HELL YES I would've taken that. This team wasn't that good. It was pretty good. It's ceiling was losing in the second round, not winning a chip

you know what, that's a good way of looking at it.

But I am greedy. I wanted that and AR, Moz and Gallo in my pockets too, and that's why I am disappointed. There was no fight and all capitulation from the Knicks.

This idea that Billups cant push the ball is just flat out wrong. Denver scores just as much as we do and are top 3 in the league in scoring.

Well we never had a poll on this but would you do this deal
