Now we know why Nets keep raising the price for the Knicks - offering first round picks for Chandler, Gallo, Felton??

As a Knicks fan I think this would be a great deal. Because our owner deserves it as does anyone that wants to do this deal with Denver in the first place.

Gallo, Favors, Lopez up front vs. Amare, Melo, Baron, I wonder where a top flight NBA point guard would like to be long term once they move into BK.

the russian played this well - knew the nets had no real shot at carmelo, so he made a phantom offer at the last minute to get dolan the fool to ante up more assets.

then offers draft picks to denver for those same assets.

i guess proko made a smart move... though will he really be laughing if it turns out his offer of draft picks for knicks assets is what finally pushed denver to deal with NY?

stat and melo is still an excellent foundation for the next five years for this team, no matter how you slice it. billups will be almost as good as felton for the next two... the russian may not be laughing in a year or two.

this seems kind of like a lame "i gotcha!" move by the nets that doesnt really mean anything... knicks got what they wanted in the end. melo paves the way for deron or cp3...

we shall see.

It's almost like both Denver and New Jersey are challenging us to walk away....but all the while knowing we may be desperate enough to stay at the table either way (see Jimmy Dolan...).

This all falls on Melo. He needs to see that Denver doesn't care about where his next destination is and that they are clearly not negotiating in good faith. If Melo truly wants the Knicks, it's his choice now as to whether he will prioritize that over the money. If he does, he can stop this and tell Denver he won't sign with New Jersey and is happy to wait until FA. If he wants the money, fine, let him go to Newark and rot there.

And it would help if our owner wasn't a complete tool

I will do a lot of things to get another star, but I will not watch our players go to NEW JERSEY!

If they get Gallo and mosgov--their rebuilding phase jumps 10 notches. They would control 2 7-1 260 pd C and a 6-10 240 pd F who are all 24 and younger

Denver is crazy to give away Moz and Gallo for a first rounder or two. The Knicks are definitely getting screwed around in these negotiations. Melo only wants to sign in NY? Then drop out now. You're not winning anything this year.

Everyone acting like NJ is masterful while NY is eating ****. Simply not the case. It's annoying, but we still get the best player in the deal even if it happens. Proko is actaully reminding me of Isiah a little bit with how much he was offering for Melo and now this move.

It's certainly entertaining.

First of all, is it possible for some of you to wait to see what happens before getting up in arms about it?

'Melo has already been traded to the Nets 3 times now and we're still waiting for the press conferences.

Some of you are so quick to believe the latest tweet is what's going to happen because it feeds you desire for indignation.

Secondly, IF there is any truth to this, then all it does it establish once and for all that Denver really doesn't value the Knicks "assets" all that much. Doesn't make them right. But they feel the way they feel and Knicks can't change that.

Which means the Knicks never really had the "better-than-nothing" leverage some thought they did, which is the source of your indignation.

Walk away. Too shady, we're being jerked around. Retract the offer. Maybe get lucky in free agency. This whole thing is dirty and totally unappealing.

how are we looking bad? I dont see the Knicks having done anything yet. Knicks have an all star starter, a healthy young deep roster (one of the youngest in the league) we start 2 rookies, are looking at max cap space potential, we have an easy remaining shedule and have all but locked up a playoff spot.

Knicks are looking bad? I beg to differ

I know Dolan is fun to pile on, and most of the time deserving, but what does this have to do with him? All indications are that Moz isn't even in the deal. Nets owner is just playing games.

Not at all... The Melo Nuggets relationship is in BAD shape.

All the matter is that the Knicks make a good trade for the Knicks. Keep Gallo and Mosgov. Yank my offer until Thurs at 330. Then put out Chandler, Fields, Curry and a 2014 pick and cash for Melo.

I do agree that most of the leaks are coming from the Nets and this is their tactic

Also keep in mind Adrian Woj is an old Bergen Record Nets reporter- thats where most of his "sources" are.

Wished they'd get something done soon...how am I s'pposed to fill out the 'gamepicker' without knowing who is on the roster Thursday?

do you (or anyone) see that being a factor to Walsh? He's got self conviction and a healthy streak of self rightousness. He's going to make a deal HE wants to make or he wont make one. He can walk away today and run 10 teams in this league.

you know they are truly hurting our players trust and loyalty to New York. They literally just asked for all of our youths, excluding Tony Douglous. If no trade is to go down, do you still think Felton would sign at New York for a discount, Wilson Chandler, Gallo, and Fields + Mosgov if they are added to the trades? It seems more and more, that they are doing this to and give out leaks to hurt our organization and players faith in it.

I'm with this. 100%. Stop ceding the leverage and power in the negotiation. Somebody slip Dolan something to put him to sleep for the next few days and let Walsh make real moves. Hate. Jim. Dolan.
