It is about MSG/Cablevision: filling up seats, selling Jersey's, and becoming at least a mediocre bound like Atlanta. There are Knick's fans all over the world even when we sucked, there will be only more with the addition of Melo. I am not sure if they will give in to Denver's demands though, but Dolan wouldn't take their current deal of the table till the 11th hour.

Unfortunately this is true, and this is the problem you have with an owner who is not a true fan and enthusiast of the sport.

I posted this in another thread but it fits here too:

I was gonna post this about pulling players out. See what happens when Denver loses the pick from the deal if it is not done by Monday.

Not done by Tuesday, no pick and Gallo is replaced by Turiaf and Walker.

No deal by Wednesday remove the Felton/Billups portion of the trade.
At the deadline, my final offer is Curry, Chandler, Randolph, Walker/Douglas, maybe a 2nd rounder or two.

As frustrating as this is, we should just leave our offer as is. Denver wants us to pull our deal off of the table so they can tell Melo "we tried to trade you to the Knicks but they backed out. Now, if you want your extension, you can sign and go to the Nets or stay with us!"

Melo could always opt out, but it really seems like he wants the extension and money. So we have to stay in this with a fair offer. What is fair is Felton, Chandler, Gallo, Curry (expiring), AR(or pick) + $3mil for Melo, Billups, Carter. (or remove both Felton and Billups if Denver wants that). Just hold with this. Melo can then tell Denver that the Knicks have a fair offer on the table. You should take it and I will sign an extension with the Knicks, but not with the Nets.

I think we have made our final offer. The present offer is higher than I wanted, but I cannot say that it totally screws us. I think Fields is going to turn into a solid starting SG and Timmy M. has the potential to be a solid starting center. If we can keep those two, we should have enough pieces to build a championship team. I would not pull the offer. I would simply tell Denver this is the offer, either take or leave it, but it is not going to change.

Mozgov will get traded. Mark my words.

If that happens then Walsh should quit b/c I doubt that would have been his call. Dolan needs to let his basketball people do what he pays them to do. I really think we could have kept DG out of the deal if Dolan had not gotten involved.

Denver is not at fault for trying to rob Dolan. Blame Dolan and his buddy Zeke for giving Denver anything they want.

If you keep asking and getting what you want, are you going to stop? Denver bent over Dolan and did him good, no vaseline.

We've all known that Dolan only cares about the illusion of being able to win a title. So long as the team is in contention and the garden is filled, Cable subscriptions are up etc. Dolan is happy. The Knicks are back at #1 franchise in terms of value.

Donnie is the only shot we've got. As long as he's still here, there's a chance that he can figure something out. It won't be easy, but if he's still here, he's gonna try to find some way to put a team together after this deal. He's the only hope the fans have. If Dolan doesn't bring him back we're screwed.

I'm not screwed. I'll say bye-bye to the Knicks. One less stressful thing in my life.

It's just crazy, we're loyal to our team through this rebuild, three years almost, and now we're facing a strong possibility of all that work being blown up, reversed, by one Isiah trade.

I called this an Isiah-like trade a while ago, even before the rumors of Isiah's involvement came through. It feels like the Marbury trade.

This all sucks.

Walk away from this nonsense. Melo can have us if he wants. But we're not going to busy ourselves wrecking our foundation any more. IF Dolan can't see the forest through the trees, *BLEEP* him. I can take a few more years off from hoops until the Knicks regain their senses or get sold to new ownership.

I am not convinced the Knicks are going to starphuck here. I would not be surprised to see us walk away from this shyte.

Or two: BITE ME

I'd go with "BITE ME". And he should stand up from his wheelchair so the cameras can get a good shot of him grabbing his nutsack while he says it staring deadpan into the lens. That would be a classic Knicks historical moment. I'd make a glossy 8x10 of that, frame it and hang it in my office until retirement.

Great Idea...Pull it today, say nope Mozgov is too much. THat leaves them NJ and Melo won't sign there. On Thursday, offer them Curry, Chandler and a #1.

Which is more than fair.

If you're a team with a star like Melo and you somehow end up in a situation where you're pretty much forced to trade him, you just don't get equal value back. You take a hit and thank God you got anything in return. Chandler, a #1, and a fat expiring leaves you in great position for a quality rebuild.

With the news that Denver plans to send Mozgov and Chandler or Gallo to NJ, I say pull the deal if Denver does not accept by the end of the day tomorrow. I would also start working on an alternative trade of Chandler to another team for another prospect that is still on a rookie contract with a few years remaining. If the Knicks give up Mozgov, they are total idiots.
