Pau Gasol, Grizzlies 2010 second round draft pick

for

Marc Gasol, Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton, Aaron McKie (who the Lakers signed earlier today), 2008 first round pick and 2010 first round pick.

Gasol = Chandler
Kwame, Crittenton, McKie = Curry
AR (or Minnesota pick) = two late first rounders from LA

My offer: Chandler, Curry, AR, AZ, Turiaf, Mason, picks and 3 mil for Anthony and Nene

i'm a greedy bastard, but i would sign off on that.

No way Denver signs off on that. Chandler and Curry walk in the summer, AZ is damaged goods, Mason is the 11th man on a 500. team and for the hell of it, the Nuggs are gonna throw in their starting center? Come on guys. I know we are Knick fans here, but we are not fleecing anyone for an allstar. We have to give to get.

sorry. after the pau gasol trade, i want the knicks to do some fleecing. it's about time we get ours.

This is different. Melo has had a better career at this point than Pau did before he was traded. Plus, these dealings are being played out in front of the cyber-world and Denver would take a beating from the media, ticket and stock holders, fans etc, if they pulled the trigger on that deal. Other than AR, they would have nothing to show for moving Melo and Nene.

Great ninjitsu by the Knicks FO to get that meeting in, completely under media radar.

That meeting must've gone well enough for the conference call to be scheduled for today.

Get It Done, Donnie (and Dolan)... Hammer out a fair deal and get this Melo deal done.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Never heard the Miami part. And I think Billups only wanted to force his hand when it involved NJ.

I am looking for the article. It was a little blurb probably from damn twitter...Basically it is making the rounds the only team he wants to go to is Miami.

there are gonna be a lot of vets with the miami-or-bust mentality until we get fully equipped in the arms race. melo needs to know that sacrifices have to be made when building superpowers. i still believe strongly that all the media leaks are far from what's really happening. this is not far from the lebron-bosh-wade saga. it just has a different twist.

Chandler can't walk, he is an RFA. AZ is more cap relief, remember the insurance kick-in?

Denver's downside risk: Melo and Nene both opt and they end up with NADA.

Yeah. That's all true. I still think Billups for us is redundant and a step in the wrong direction of the overall goal of this team. There is absolutely no reason for Denver to trade Chauncey. His contract is favorable(they can terminate it or have a 14 mil trade chip)....We don't NEED a PG. We need a C. I said it before, I am willing to sell off alot of our youth (I just want to keep Fields or Gallo) if we got Nene with Anthony.

Man IMO this is a 100% real deal. Dolan's people are the ones that leaked this info and it's the only clearly positive rumor on the Knicks we've heard. It's a direct response to all the false reports that the Nets people have been leaking to the press. There's been a lot of gamesmanship going on between the two franchises in this deal. Now the Knicks have decided to play their hand and let the Nets know that they have climbed to the top of the heap in this fight for Melo.

The fact that they're gonna do a conference call is probably cuz Melo heard what he needed to hear from Dolan and his Agent let the Nuggets know that it's over. He's not signing with the Nets.

yeah, i'd add mosgov to the mix if nene was coming back.

chandler, curry, mosgov, AR, turiaf

for

melo, nene

how about the $7M difference between Felton and Billups salary at relatively the same output for PG. And one who is 8 years young and could be extended?

Martin, great point about Nene. He has a players option for 2011. Billups has a team option. If they trade Mello, I think they will let Billups go next year. $14.2 mil is a lot of money to spend on a 35 yr old PG when you have a young PG (Ty Lawson) and are rebuilding. So Denver may lose all 3. Perhaps they are wanting to trade all 3. We can take 2 - I'd take Melo and Nene if Nene also agrees to sign an extension. Then add to the trade Mozgov and Ronny (and Azu?)even though I like both of these players.

I thought Billups was a Denver native and loved to play there? He hasn't demanded or made it known that he does NOT want to be traded?

I sure as hell don't want Billups here if he's huffin and puffin. Felton with Amare + Melo + Fields, we will be FINE. Definite Eastern Conference contenders for sure.

Just a thought/speculation....not a rumor.

Perhaps Melo is also suggesting to the Knicks who he wants the Knicks to keep. He may like to play with certain other players. I remember how Melo complimented Gallo last year when they went head-to-head. Melo wants to win - he wants the Knicks to keep the players around him who he thinks would make us a Championship team.

Er, how can you say "Melo complimented Galo" when they were opponents facing against each other?

I read it or it was an interview. The reporters asked Melo about Gallo's play against him, and Melo was very complimentary about Gallo. I forget the exact details, but Melo was positive.

Oh you mean "compliment" as in he praised Gallo.
I thought you meant "complement" as in they work well together.

maybe far superior as a scorer or in terms of profile, but i don't think it's so outlandish to compare.

The only guys I care to keep are Stat, Felton and Fields. Everybody else can go.

Exactly, and I mean EXACTLY how I feel bro..Well said..Felton (for the chemistry reason you mentioned and the age factor) and Fields are KEEPERS 100% as in OFF THE TABLE (esp if we're really the only suitor left in this thing)...Anyone else they can have (beside Amar'e of course)..I'm not making this deal to all of a sudden have a PG problem next year if we choose to exercise that buyout option on Billups to save $10M (which I could definitely see the Knicks doing)....After the smoke clears on this deal I'm gonna need to know I'm GOOD at the 4, 3, 2 & 1..Then all I have to do is add a C (don't think Mozgov is the answer, they can have him--he'd make a nice sweetner anyway PLUS I think we can add a better center in this summer's draft), maybe another big & another wing (I'd be OK with adding D-League all-stars Jeff Adrien & Othyus Jeffers RIGHT NOW and then signing them to smart deals for the foreseeable future, deals that fit into our salary structure----and if we can't make that commitment right now for whatever reason, get them for the rest of the year anyway and promise to bring them to training camp next season with a strong chance to make the club), a backup PG upgrade over TD if one ever presents itself (if not, I'm actually OK with TD as the backup point despite his drawbacks) and maybe another shooter (I'd look to grab 6'6" Ohio State swingman Jon Diebler either with a 2nd rounder we decide to purchase or for nothing after the draft if he goes undrafted---I think this dude might be the best shooter in the college game today. His deadeye shooting touch would help cover the loss of Gallinari's perimeter offense).

I say hold firm on the offer that excludes this Felton/Billups swap and Landry Fields..Sweeten it up in other ways --- Mozgov, the rights to Jerome Jordan, $3M in cash, 2014 1st rounder, 2016 first rounder, 2nd round picks, whatever, just devise a way of keeping Ray and Landry the hell outta this!! We're trying to build a contender here..Not grab one good piece and then all of a sudden start looking for an entire new backcourt..Come on..

Welcome to the board btw Jon..

Anyone know what "Incarcerated Bob" on twitter is all about? Twitter is blowing up with claims that the Knicks have reached an agreement with Denver. I know twitter is less than reliable but it's out there.
