I don't understand why the Nets would've keep their 1st round picks and just build their team thru the draft. They can't really win with a team that only has Melo and Lopez. It seems like a dumb idea in terms of trying to build a team. This leads me to think that this is just a bogus attempt to squeeze more out of the Knicks.

This is getting beyond ridiculous , Donnie should tell Denver good luck dealing him to NJ when he doesn't want to resign there. Now if Denver comes crawling back offer them Eddie Curry and Azibuke and a first rounder or send them to hell.

They are desperate and so is Carmelo. He will take that money and rot in Jersey.

Nah, he won't do that. He's just trying to play the PR game here. His heart is set on a legacy at The Garden. The rest of it is all smoke and mirrors. If Melo isn't a Knick by the 25th, it will be because Denver refused to deal with us fairly. Their requested trade was preposterous. The proposed Nyets trade is even more preposterous.

Melo to Knicks in July as a FA is looking really nice right now.

Melo is about to turn 27, how many years would it take for the Nets to build a contender with all that going the other way? He might be 30 before they can field an elite team, just when most players start to break down. I'm pretty sure its something he is considering.

Nets have 6 1st round picks in the next two years. Giving up 4, one being theirs is interesting.

I wonder just how much money we are talking about. I have read the spread is anywhere from 6-40 million dollars.

Melo might not be the sharpest crayon in the box. Amare is just impressive in interview. Melo still carries himself like a kid.

Excellent point. He's been there, done that. He's looking at Lebron like this dude is winning, it's got to be on his mind.

Come to the knicks and theres a possibility we make noise in the playoff. We'd be an instant competitor for the next 5 years. What superstar doesn't want that?

I wonder how much of this is Denver and NJ working together to drive up the knicks. They have to both know Melo wants NY, so Nets have a vested interest in making the knicks over pay. Would love be a fly on the wall to listen to these conversations.

The only this says is that Denver is desperate and trying to fool Donnie into thinking he has competition.

IF it comes to Melo choosing based on his meeting with Proko or his meeting with Dolan...

Melo will be a Net by Monday.

Now we see how much Melo wants to be a Knick - that's the only hope the Knicks have left, they CANNOT top that ridiculous package the Nets are offering.

If Melo wants to come to the Knicks, now is his time to flex the "No extension to anyone but the Knicks" card.

You know Dolan gets a bad image because of his ties to Thomas. But at the end of the day, dude spends money, he just hasn't had the right people informing him on what to spend it on. Hopefully Donnie is in his ear, I'd believe if it were up to Dolan, Melo would have already been a knick. But I think he is actually listening to DW.

Hopefully he can get it done.

Ball is in Melo's court.

Does he even meet with Dolan now?

Denver has an agreement with jersey.

Melo has the leverage but not if Denver says they won't deal with NY.

Who is zooming who here?

I think Melo's leverage at the last minute can trump Denver's - he can't force them to trade him to the Knicks, but they can't force him to sign an extension anywhere he doesn't want to go.

The game of chicken goes on.

Melo can just say - "no matter what you do, I'm going to be a Knick next season. I won't sign an extension if you don't trade me to the Knicks."

He's meeting with Dolan as well I'm guessing Isiah is gonna be involved in one way or another and you know what that might not even be a bad thing at this point.

If Isiah has something to do with it might be enough for him to get his old job back. Too high a price for me.

I felt all along that Melo was the one that could make his dream come true and get his money and the team he wants. I can't see how he and his agent would choose the Nets over the Knicks in a straight up competition. We're better now and will be able to give him the chance to play with his buddy Amar'e. He'd have a chance to build a legacy with a storied franchise and a huge city and following across the country. There are tons of transplanted NY'ers in every state. The Nets have like 5 dedicated fans He'd have to be on Meth to choose the Nets over the Knicks for the same money. Ir's all in Melo's hands now. My feeling is he's a Knicks before the deadline.
