The guy is playing for a payday, like Al Harrington was, so his main motivation is not the Knicks, but himself. The Knicks are second to him. And that's a huge problem for the team.
I see what you see out on the court, but interpret it differently. I specifically don't think Felton is like Harrington playing for a contract, even though he is not a pass first kind of a point guard.
1) He is incredibly competitive and when the opposing point guard scores, Felton feels the need to respond to the "personal" challenge.
2) Before the "minutes" wore him down, Felton sincerely believed that he was a clutch player and with his "heart" he definitely took shots in big spots. I admit that it may look similar to someone playing for a contract. But I think Raymond is a "team first" player and the Knicks winning really is important to him.
I do think he loves playing with the Knicks in general and Amare particularly. If Mike told him that he wanted his PG to cut down his scoring and do more passing, I think Raymond Felton could make that change.
Aye, as long as we see the same thing on the court.
As far as the interpretation, I go with my instincts here.
We all had instincts once, a long time ago, before they were battered by layers of masochistic abstractions.
Time will tell, as it always does.
