I think that when you're this close to going the traditional route of having 2 superstars or more, then you have to go for it. You can always fill in role players, but as we all know there are a limited supply of superstars. It's also clear that if we tried to stand pat it's gonna take a lot longer to reach contention, cuz we have to wait for guys to develop. I think even tho I'd hate to lose 2 of our young role players, it's worth the cost. We can't waste Amar'e in his prime.

As for bigmen, I actually think Timo is developing nicely. He's not nasty, but he's getting better at rebounding and should continue to improve. If we can add another guy to the bigman contingent that should do it. I'm not sure exactly what our cap situation would be but my guess is we'd either have to trade for a big or use the MLE next year. Not sure who is available that would accept the MLE. I've gotta look into that.

good question... attitude wise i like Reggie Evans, but he may not be big enough... probably could play the Xavier McDaniel type role pretty well though... Kenyon Martin's another option... maybe Shaq? though i don't see him mixing well into an MDA style offense he does have experience playing in the system before though... then there's guys like Jeff Adrien in the D Leagues who could help fill that role off the bench though he's sorta undersized & definitely not a starting option... Kendrick Perkins would be a natural fit but we'd have to trade for him.

Timo will never be that big bully thug we're looking for, no way no how the guy's too nice... that's like expecting Wilson Chandler to become Kenyon Martin attitude wise, it's not gonna happen.

Yeah I know Timo is like the anti Perkins, but I still like how he's coming along. As for finding a guy that fits that description and just how can we get him, i'm not sure.

lol that was the first guy I thought of as well...It'd be nice if Mozgov could step into that role, maybe he could learn from Reggie. I'm trippin though, is the league really devoid of tough guys/enforcers?

NBA eliminated thug ball.. that is why you will get a flagrant foul for what used to be a friendly pat on the back... thug type players will get exposed when it matters because they will not get the benefit of the whistle.. what the knicks need is more talent, and then you get that talent to play unselfishly and together.. do that, and you give yourself a chance to win every single game...

i'm not talking about out & out thuggery like clotheslining guys when they try & penetrate into the paint... i'm talking about a bad ass dude that no one on the other team is gonna want to mess with, someone that will watch our superstars' backs, just like Oakley & Mason used to do for Ewing, or like Shaq & Perkins are doing for KG & Pierce... of course our lack of talent is the main issue we need to focus on, but also our lack of that kind of toughness has been a sore point with this Knicks team for a long time now... i think we need to address this... we have zero guys on the roster that are capable of filling that role... sorry Shawne Williams ain't scaring no one.

i think there's still guys that can play that kind of role on teams right now... Kendrick Perkins, Kenyon Martin, Reggie Evans, Stephen Jackson, Shaquille O'Neal, Ron Artest, Etan Thomas, etc.

One rumor is the Knicks are going to try to get Pryzbilla in a deadline trade.

Przybylla would be a good get for the Knicks. I think we may have to give up Fields to get Melo- and I don't like it, but I think I can slowly get more comfortable with it.
