You get a free pass for rebounding at your usual rate because you single handedly brought this franchise back to respectability.

And no one else had anything to do with that.

Correct. Last time I saw Amar'e rocking a Suns jersey, Gallinari, Wilson, and MDA were consistently losing.

Do you not see any difference between Duhon and Felton? Fields and Jared Jeffries? (They play different positions but Fields is taking minutes that did go to JJ previously)

Felton and Fields wouldn't do much winning on last years Knicks.

Exactly.

Role players never turn a franchise around, they can only help to keep a team competitive and successful.

Didn't really go through the list of players or numbers, but if you're just pointing out a rare case or scenario then yea, good find.

But in general, my post is accurate. We've had nothing but role players during our losing seasons. So if they're as valuable as some people think, how come we weren't successful in reaching at least the playoffs. Why couldn't D'antoni win with Crawfold, Marbury, Curry, etc. Is it really because of chemistry? Now that we have a top 10 player, possibly 5, we're winning all of a sudden. Coincidence? lol

Not to mention, one HUGE reason why Felton, Fields, and Gallo are having the seasons they are is because of Amar'e. The amount of easy shots these guys get simply because of his presence is very significant.

For any coach it always starts with talent, but the coach does impact a team. LB left and the Bobs weren't doing anything, Silas changes things up and the team is playing better. They still don't have top tier talent, but it's made a difference.

Mike is a system coach and those guys always need to have their kind of guys to win. That doesn't mean we have to have 3 All Stars as some keep trying to say. Let's also remember that this is a young team and we have to depend on 2 rookies this year to step up in order for this team to do well. We also have other young guys that are still developing and have limited experience. I think Mike has done a very good job under those circumstances. The more this group stays together and we add a guy like Melo the future looks very promising.

Still the point remains that all coaches need great talent to win a title. Why is that a knock against Mike?

Amare, up until Mozgov emerged, was our only big man on the floor for big streches of games. Turiaf helped, but he didn't play enough/not good enough rebounder. What I am getting at here is this: when Amare goes for a block- rest of the team is not helping with boxing out- Amare goesn't have a chance to grab a board. This is why I brought up boxing out on the other thread. If we start boxing out better(I don't mean the whole team under the basket, just one other guy consistently boxing out) Amare's rebounds will improve, we'll be a much better rebounding team alltogether and we can add many wins in the process.
