The Giants RBs were a huge reason why the team won the Super Bowl the same season they traded Grant. So they probably would've cut him because of how many backs they carried and were able to get value for him.I know that's not your point but that was the deal
Farve's "Vintage" late game INT against the Giants in the conference title game is why the giants went to the superbowl..Although they were stack at the RB position...But look at the RB they got for a 6th rnd pick..peanuts
Of course I'm going to disagree with you there. I'll say the reason the Giants went to the Super Bowl is because they had one of the best defensive lines in NFL history. And the only reason Favre had a "vintage" game is because of missed FGs on the Giants side.
As for getting a sixth round pick, that's a low price knowing how good he's gotten. But the Giants got a sixth rounder for an undrafted player with less than 20 rushing attempts in the preseason. He was good, the Giants knew he was good, but they got a sixth rounder for someone they didn't sepnd anything on to acquire. At the time it looked like the Giants got a bit of a steal. Glad it worked out for y'all.
Its true, the giants defense should have been the MVP, Eli played ok, made some key plays, but that Defense is what got us there and won it. Brady was constantly under attack and was off as a result.
If Eli doesn't bring the Giants back your not even talking about that super bowl today. He made the big plays when the team needed it the most with their last drive.
There is no question, but I think the Defense was the MVP of that game.
The defense for the giants was damn good, but i'm a not a big fan of the "DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS" it's over rated...A potent offense can over come what ever you throw at them...I understand MDA's philosophy...
The steelers was suppose to have the best defense, had the defensive player of the year in TROY P...james harrison, if there weren't so many drop passes, that game could have easily been a blow out.
When you have a offense that executes like clock work, what the hell can any defense do.
Ironically Charlse Woodson was the Defensive player last year, and the pack had the #2 overall defense #1 against the pass, yet we gave up 51 point to AZ, 400+ yards for a aging Kurt warner. They played us a week before that Wild card game, scouted us perfectly, then executed and expose every single hole.
