The Future, a time not today, but the day after today.
Yes, Felton can drop the buckets and dish the rocks for the next 6-8 years
No, Felton is just slightly better than Duhon, we're still searching for a worthy leader

Unfortunately he's hurt and no one is really playing the post only Amar'e is playing the mid-range. Felton could od better but it's not all on him

Unfortunately, he plays the position that will get most of the blame. Just like a quarterback. The ball goes through the PG all the time and he needs to understand that he needs to setup everybody and not just Amare and himself. I really don't recall any plays for Gallo that Felton intiated or setup other than transition buckets and I don't think we had any of that last night.

how many of you when we signed felton thought he was going to be our second scorer and throw up the second most shots on this team...he is a pt guard not a shooting guard and isnt really a great shooter either he is a volume shooter

I'm kinda torn, but he's no joke either. I voted yes, given that we improve other areas instead. He's a tough defender, he's having 8-9 assist per game and he's still looking to create offense himself. If Melo (sorry for bringing him up in here) comes here, I wouldn't be surprised to see Felton looking less for his own shot and more for the other guys, mostly being STAT and Melo.

And I don't think he's too stubborn to change his ways. He's not a stupid guy.

I think he CAN be... but glad we will have cap flexibility in 2012 to entertain the possibility of CP3 or Deron.

Only if we don't keep Wilson and don't get Carmelo

Felton is the man until someone better comes along, kinda like Kerry Collins when the Giants went to the Super Bowl in 2000. If an elite point guard becomes available, than you have to go for it. But Felton is good enough to man the ship now and is capable of taking this team to the highest levels under the right conditions.

I voted yes; he's the best we've had in a decade (not saying much), is a leader, loves NY, and is the definition of "warrior" - plays hurt, plays tough, etc. If we decide to jettison everyone b/c they're in a shooting slump - which happens to everyone - then we may as well get rid of the entire team, Amar'e included.
The new new core: Randle, RJ, IQ. Maybe Mitch. Future pick. Future trade. Future FA.

If felton continues to get better, and become a consistant player, then I have no problem keeping him, but right now, i would trade him if there's an option to upgrade at any position( including a melo trade). He's responsible for our losses, he's responsible for most of our wins. He is in a system where the PG is BY FAR the most inmportant piece to any success. Right now his 50/50

Not true. Turiaf, Felton, Gallo are all eligible to come off the cap in 2012. That adds up to about $15M right there.

Felton is pretty much coming down to where we thought he would be. He has been taking a lot of bad shots. Would rather see him become pass first and shoot second. Lately he is thinking shoot first. You can see his bad shots his feet aren't set the balance isn't there and lately he has been shooting some deep jumpers off the dribble. He needs to get back to the mid range game which I think he is very effective in.

Do you think a lot of that is due to him playing 38 minutes a night? His legs just don't look as fresh to me on his J and he looks like he's using too much arm.

We have 22 mil in guaranteed salary for 2012. Whoever we draft this off-season will make about 3 mil and Melo would be at around $18 mil. That puts us at $43 with $15 mil in cap space--IF you relinquish our cap hold for each of the players you listed above (a highly risky decision). If you relinquish every player we have a cap hold on, trade our first round pick and Mozgov for expiring contracts, and the salary cap doesn't decrease (tons of "ifs"), I think you would have enough to offer one max contract. In practice, I've never heard of a team that already had two players on max contracts offering a max contract to a third player. Miami now is the closest to that but each of their three took less than max contracts.

He seems too headstrong and not headwise enough. He's the type of point that will put his head through a brick wall, he won't walk around the wall, through a door. Stubborn, I think. And you can't win a chip with a stubborn leader.

i find it funny you knocking me for wanting to see AR get a little run but you're starting threads knocking 1 of our best players & a key reason for the turn around this season.

I agree. I wish Amare could take that time off as well.

Felton is known to come back from summer a bit out of shape. Yeah i think he is being pushed hard by MDA, but I also think that Felton somewhere began to change his game and has gone away from his early season play. Would like to see him look for his teammates a little more rather than jacking up shots. Who knows maybe he will get a second wind.
