After the decade of players that made you embarassed to be a Knicks fan,
how can you not like this whole squad?

Fields, Felton, Amare, Gallo, Chandler, Moz, Williams, Turiaf, TD

I have to tell you, I want so desperately to add AR to that list because of what he did (future tense) on the court for the team in a win and wins.

There was one play against Detroit where he got a rebound and dribbled ball up court and it lead to a very fast bucket for the Knicks - perhaps 3 pointer for Gallo. That's something perhaps no other guy his size could do - rip down a tough rebound, push the ball up the court with ease and assurance, and pass to a wide open teammate for an easy bucket.

i think mda feels the same way martin does about AR....he would love to have a guy that size be able to bring the ball up at times or lead a break. it would cause havoc for a defense to have a guy that big be so quick. it's on AR though. maybe mda should give him a moz-type audition and see what happens. let him make a few mistakes in there and see if he can adjust once he gets comfortable. who knows? coaches know btr than us pining what we know on the internet. but, i gotta believe mda is not seeing something he needs to see from AR in practice in order to give him that chance.

we shall see.

The fact that his teammates were actually doing really bad Ivan Drago impressions in the locker room, as he says, is hilarious!

What a funny story! I like how the American take on Mozgov is to build him into a "crazy Russian," with "Mozgov Smash" and the Rocky comparisons, whereas reading his blog/interview, he's extremely thoughtful and well-spoken.

if MDA hasn't done so already, it's something so simple and easy a message, but for someone who is 21 and who probably has had everything handed to him at an early age, he is just missing the obvious (and it goes for the likes of ECurry and the like): run hard, play D, do the simple things and don't F up majorly.

i hear ya man. it's a damn shame b/c with that type of god given ability, AR could easily be the #2 guy on this team

- I won’t lie to you, I was terribly worried. I felt that I could, that I only needed a tiny chance, that if I got 15 or 20 minutes I could do a lot. But like that, when you get on the court for two minutes in the end of the game, when it’s done… What can you do in that time?

- It was a couple minutes before the end of the game. We were losing hopelessly, and D’Antoni put me in the game. I was overwhelmed with desire to prove myself.

- It was already enough that I wasn’t playing, and there goes this outrageous rejection. At some moment I was close to a breakdown, I wanted to break a TV in my hotel room.

- Yes, it was a nightmare. I got two fouls, made a terrible shot and committed a turnover. Amare came to me and tried to make me calm down, but I only had a single thought in my head: “It’s over, Mike is going to bench me now”. But he didn’t say anything and I rushed into battle again. I attacked the rim and missed! I rebounded, attempted another shot and missed again! Another rebound, my third shot, and another bad miss!

But from there I got really angry, and from that moment everything started to fall in its place. It was like all my countless misfortunes came to an end. After that I almost didn’t leave the court and made 9 of 11 shots and five free throws.

this shows a lot of what i've been talking about how sporadic run in garbage time puts pressure on a young guy to try to do a little too much... having to look over your shoulder to see when the coach is gonna yank you from a game has got to negatively effect your psyche & make it hard to get into any kind of flow or rhythm... a little show of faith can go a long way.

I totally agree. I also think Mosgov is well liked by D'Antoni and despite this still had these fears.

- What did D’Antoni tell you after the game? He was saying good things about you to the media, almost promising to start you in the next game vs. Dallas…

- He praised me after the game and thanked me. Actually all the guys were happy for me. Gallinari said that he was already getting bored of scoring twenty per game and that now it was my turn.

I love this team's lockerroom dynamic. You cannot say enough about it. We don't really talk about it or give it enough credit here because htat's just the way it should be. But after reading article after article about nude shower fights and the coach and star player having mansion neighbor quarrels, it really is refreshing to read stuff like that

- What did you order: beer or some vodka?

- I have a strict regimen. But anyway, I don’t care about alcohol, even beer. During the game I drank so much water that I couldn’t even eat. I ordered some fried potatoes, shashlik and my favorite Herring under fur coat salad. Before, it didn’t happen once that I wouldn’t finish the Fur coat, but this time I couldn’t do it and the waiters packed it for me to go.

WTF is "shashlik and my favorite Herring under fur coat salad"? I have to find out where to order that, because I think I now have a new pre-game eating routine

Mike clearly wanted to allow Timo and AR to get a feel and so they played. AR didn't do anything to hurt his chances of seeing game action in the future, tho it's a tough call to find minutes. It's often a chicken or egg argument, but in this case AR and Timo got a shot and didn't waste the opportunity so that's the most important thing to come out of this. We'll be a stronger team with those two being part of the equation. This team has much more hidden potential than we've seen so far.

Apparently shaslik is a shish kebob

and "herring under a fur coat" is really "Herring Salad". It's salted herring under boiled veegetables, apparently five layers, and a bunch of mayo

This is a tough month for me. We're still 6 months from tourney time, and I'm wandering the halls of the UK forum in a stupor.

I guess I stumbled in here.
