By the way, Mosguv, who rarely plays at all, played 40 minutes and still looked as fresh as a young puppy at the end of the game.

He has clearly not been sulking at practice, or on the bench, since he was taken out of the rotation.

I think he takes Walkers place. However, Walker hasn't seen many minutes lately. It would be nice if Turiaf's minutes could be limited a bit so that he doesn't get hurt as often.

kind of an odd question about Moz replacing Williams or Walker as neither of those guys really play the same role as Moz does.

I am thinking and hoping that Moz minutes mean less minutes for Amare and Turiaf. We shall see.

when you have enough guys that can play multiple spots on this roster it allows u flexibility in setting up a rotation incorporating our young bigs... it's not that hard to come up with a system of rotations to incorporate both Mozgov & AR & still get the rest of the regulars a good amount of minutes

C - Turiaf 18 min / Mozgov 18 min / AR 12 min
PF - Amare 35 min / Chandler 13 min
SF - Gallo 32 min / Williams 16 min
SG - Fields 30 min / Chandler 18 min
PG - Felton 36 min / Douglas 12 min

that's a 10 man rotation:

Felton 36 min
Amare 35 min
Gallo 32 min
Chandler 31 min
Fields 30 min
Turiaf 18 min
Mozgov 18 min
Williams 16 min
Douglas 12 min
AR 12 min

obviously u can't go exact to that template for every game, sometimes u just gotta ride the hot hands down the stretch & in others the matchups will dictate the minutes as well, but u can easily see it's doable if MDA has the mindset to do it... this keeps every player's minutes to a reasonable level & gives us good depth in the frontcourt, an area where we've been lacking in all season long... the only players whose minutes get cut dramatically in this scenario are TD & Bill Walker... TD's been playing out of control of late & Bill Walker is superfluous as long as we have Fields, Chandler, Gallo & Williams already in the rotation.

Mozzle Gov needs to play big minutes, as long as his energy is high on the glass and on D in the paint, period.

How great was it to hear the Garden serenade Moz with chants of his name in the final minute of play? AWESOME

it was great, especially because it was due to a great performance & not just calling for pity minutes for the 12 man like they used to do with Herb Williams at the end of games.

Mozgov breaking the chain of garden cheers for euro 12th men! Bruno Sundov, who? Cezary Trybanski? Maciej Lampe? Somewhere Slavko Vranes is lamenting that he didnt get the same opportunity. With that said, thank goodness Walsh is steering this ship.

Given Moz's performance tonight, would you rather see him at 18/night or 30/night? I'm leaning towards 30/night...maybe we can work AR in elsewhere.

The new new core: Randle, RJ, IQ. Maybe Mitch. Future pick. Future trade. Future FA.

If Mozgov keeps playing well then he deserves more minutes than Turiaf.

I like Turiaf but he doesn't alter shots. Mozgov has the length and presence to alter shots down low. Turiaf can blow shots, yes. But Mozgov is a better presence down low.

Walt on the telecast commented that they were end of bench serenades.

I agree with you- fans want him to play because they see his potential and recognize our need for a big man in the middle.

Also, I think fans recognize he is potential steal in that we gave up nothing for him.

Bottom line is MDA needs to find him consistent minutes. I think match-ups will dictate the actual amount, as Detroit couldn't guard anyone out there. They had no answer for his size or his speed while slipping the pick and roll.

Beasting on the glass was the the real eye opener for me. The kid boxes out and seems to have good timing, for someone who sat from actual games for so long.

Imagine if... The big man we needed, was here all along.

He had to go through the process, which is what orangeblobman said all along, he had to go through the process to become what he is today, just like Toney Douglas had to go through it last year. Really, this PIstons game was a testament to the hard work and manliness of Mozgov, who took responsibility for his actions, took it upon himself to improve, and wait for his shot. Just like Toney Douglas last year.

"We always liked him," D'Antoni said. "That's why he started this year. We thought he had that potential. The thing that he did, which Toney Douglas did last year, he kept working every day, kept working with our coaches and staying ready to go. He got a break today and he was unbelievable. He really played well and hopefully he can continue that on."

Now, no one can say "Oh, MDA should have played him all along...". That's garbage. He wasn't ready. He had to go through this to learn, it was a learning process.

i think what people are forgetting here is the difference in how moz looked last night compared to earlier in the season. he came over here, the speed of the game caught him off guard, probably had some butterflies too, got kicked out of the rotation and deservedly so and instead of pouting or complaining he worked his ass off in practices. moz earned his time last night and he made the best of it.. couldn't be happier for him or the knicks.

If Timofey Mozgov can avoid us having to waste $10M-$12M on role players like Nene, Marc Gasol or DeAndre Jordan, I'll be very happy.

It was a great game to watch. Ben Gordon kept the game from total blow out his his outside display. Ben is a true chucker and kept them in the game.

Moz got to the foul line in the first half as he was about to be subbed. He stayed in the game.

First and foremost he stayed out of foul trouble. He had maybe two stupid fouls and has to learn you just got to let some go.

As mentioned his length alters shots and he kept the ball in play rebounding for others to grab it.

He caught the passes. Some tough ones too!

He slips away form the double teaming Amare gets and is wide open. His midrange jumper has always been silky smooth. He can't be ignored on offense.

He has to protect the ball better.

there are few players available for trade that have his upside. What we saw last nite was what we have seen in bits and pieces thru the season that the talent is there but he needed to just execute it. We got a glimpse.

Its not that I hope MDA gives him more chances but that he does execute his game when called on. If he does we get very serious. Turiafs minutes also get of better quality if they are reduced and he can stay a bit healthier. Also Mozzy's size might allow AR to play more. AR plays a good weak side game.

Trade or no trade, this season has been exciting to watch in many ways. Watching Moz last nite was great! Broadway drama!

Great game by Big Moz. I don't expect him to continue to play that well, but let's hope he shows enough of what we saw last night to earn a spot in the rotation.

he had a great game last nite but he needs to repeat those performances before i would personally pencil him in as the fulltime starter... if he's having a great game there's no reason to pull him out, like i said i think u would have to ride the hot hand & matchups will inevitably play a role going forward as well... definitely if he plays like last night the rest of the way he absolutely deserves 30 a night but let's see some consistency first before we get too excited.

as for AR, where else would u work him in? if u play him at backup PF that means either Williams loses his place in the rotation altogether or Chandler gets a chunk of his minutes taken away, & i doubt MDA will take 2 swingmen out of his rotation to replace with 2 bigs.

the next game will be a good test of where Mozgov is really at... he's going up against a legitimate 7 foot big who can defend in Tyson Chandler... if he can hold his own in that game, it's looking like we got ourselves a starting calibre C finally.
