That is a lot of experience right there but having a buffer like Donnie, an old school basketball lifer who demands respect, between the GM and an owner who can tend to be a bit meddlesome is key.

I liked Mullin but honestly, Wark is a better pick, IMO. He has the credentials and the history Mullin doesn't.

IM wondering if Walsh had been seeking Wark's opinion and tampering was on the horizon so they hired him officially. We'll see if he continues long term with a title.

There is one thing very important and thats Melos willingness to only extend for a trade to the knicks forcing Denver into a spite induced move. Basically they deal with us on a discounted move or get nothing. Leverage shift. If Melo wants that money I still guess he goes to Jersey.

The longer it goes on the more pressure there is. Verbally it seems melo as the one cracking first wanting to get his extension even if it means Jersey. Or he is doing damage control to say he was open minded and tried to get Denver a deal.

If Denver gets screwed it will get spun as Melo being the villain.

I think this seals the fact that Melo will be a Knick. THe Denver front office is going to have to make a choice: 1) Trade Melo to the Knicks and do wht's best for the teams future while being somewhat embarassed that their former GM. 2) Do not trade Melo to the Knicks out of spite, get nothing for him when he walks in the summer but save swallowing some serious pride by trading him to Warkentin.

Donnie is brilliant. This proves there are so many moving pieces to these things that writers, bloggers and us can't fathom until they happen. If Dolan doesn't give him an extension it would be the greatest thing to ever happen to the Brooklyn Nets. I could see something like that giving long time Knick fans reason to cheer for a Brooklyn team.

Danilo Gallinari, two future 1st's (one including Anthony Randolph) and expiring contracts (Eddy Curry and Kelenna Azubuike) for Carmelo Anthony and one of their "bad" contracts" is fair. Come on Denver!!

The dude was expecting a pay raise after being Exec of the year in 2009. Instead they cut it in half which is akin to being fired.

Melo has not stated why he wants to leave denver but we have heard rumblings about front office changes.

IF this guy can bring in melo in a way that does not deplete the asset base (aka: "Starphuch") then we can complete our roster.

iserge, would it not be better if your Boy Gallo was used as a trade asset for another big or point than in a melo deal?

The thought of "Just get melo and we'll figure the rest out later" is the starphuch mentality that plagued this franchise for years. Ever since we married Bob Mcadoo with spencer haywood, or with Marvin "the human eraser" Webster, etc etc............

If we "oh my god we have to get Amare help NOW, NOW! NOW!! won't get it done.
