All I know is that if Felton does indeed have a team option for third year - I have only read about it in a round-about way when some sources have said that Felton signed a $21-25M contract, ie perhaps there is a 3rd year - anyway, that would be HUGE for the Knicks in a couple of different ways.

First it would be mean that a if a trade occurred with a team like Denver that involved both Melo, Billups, Denver would get some assurances that they could keep Felton for 2 addition years at their own liking (team options).

OR, if we hold on to Felton after any Melo move, Felton still becomes a darn good consolation prize if the likes of Deron or CP3 come on the market in 2012 and Felton is still on the Knicks, ie sign and trade.
