The whole notion of Chandler having to be paid is somthing Denver has to get their act together and grow up.

He is quality and you have to pay. There is nothing wrong with his agent having an understanding about a price, and if the market is over that he would faciliate a sign and trade on that player. WE did that with Dlee. We paid him nice for one year then had an agreement.

But thats my speculation of logic.

While I prefer Gallo for reasons based on his skill set, if he is unhappy in Denver he could be a star in Europe and make real good money when his number is up. My conspiricy theory is Gallo had an agreement to enter the draft if NY took him. MDA was in place so it was a natural.

I try to keep Fields and Gallo and believe including Melo COULD maintain some of that good chemistry.

Thats my hope. If they want fields they don't get a no. 1 pick. Curry/fields/Chander and a Walt Frazier autograph jersey!

If reports are even remotely true, paying Wilson 65-75mil is big coin. That could care off potential suitors, at least to some degree.

I would read this news as possibly Denver realizing they have to deal with NY and laying the public ground work for their fans- so when they end up with a first rounder, Curry and Fields, they can say they were successful.

I value Fields more than Wilson or Gallo actually.

Fields will be a 15 point career scorer maybe 16 and might get 8 or 9 boards a game.

Love kids game but he is not better then Gallo nor Wilson...... Maybe a better value
but not better skill set.....

Thats my opinion

If we get Melo and keep Gallo I'll be happy

But even if Denver doesn't want Gallo or Wilson does not mean we can't include teams who do.

Doubt trade with Denver will not include 3rd or 4th team

Gotta hand it to Walsh in that a 39th pick is now coveted as a low lottery pick.

Perhaps Wilson gets an agent fast to preclude a deal in a trade.

Just speculating logic. It was suggested Chandler to Portland and Batum to Denver.

Fields is the classic player that is undervalued by standard metrics but brings a lot more to the team then you can see from the box score. You can see it when you watch the games, and when you use statistics like plus/minus. Here's a good article:

After Donnie trades him, he can sign him to an offer sheet this coming off season, well, if the MLE still exists...

People are down on our assests but we really have so many. Galo, Chandler, Fields, AR, Azabuike and his insured contract that comes off the books, Curry's expiring....that's a ton to work with whether it's just Knicks/Denver or a 3 way or 4 way deal.

It's not Harris and Favors, but that ship has (hopefully) sailed.

not for me. I am more comfortable giving up one of those guys and keeping Fields; that's how high I am on him.

Especially if you have 2 guys like Amare and Melo who NEED the ball, Fields just compliments them so well and actually plays a position that Melo doesn't cover.

I am not that high on Fields. I think he is a good glue guy, but I think those guys are replaceable. I think a lot of his value comes from Stat liking him.

Can't lock them up until we get STAT some help. The Knicks can always go over the cap to resign their own players.

Depends on what the new CBA says.

Fields is the classic player that all the fans love for his hustle, but really isn't all that special.

In his rookie season John Havlicek wasn't all that special either

Most of his points come from his hustle rebounding or beating lazy defenders to the basket when their backs are turned.

Hold up, while we're at it... lets also dump the second leading rebounder, second in steals... and third leading three point marksman.

Yeah, that's the ticket.

"and occasionally he hits an open shot."

Opinion masquerading as expert basketball analysis... or fact?

So his steals make up for his poor defense? No doubt his shot has improved drastically. But if you think a hustle player, or "glue guy" as everyone likes to call him who can hit some open shots(because no, he doesn't create his own shot) is better than an all star scoring machine then you got it twisted.
