I watched the game, Seton Hall had a few players just unconscious from 3, and it didn't die down at any point. They hopped on the 'cuse from the tip off, and just built a lead.

I saw that--it was hard to defend guys shooting from 35 feet. the problem with Syracuse is that their offense was dreadful--they could not get the crowd into it. I like my team we have real nice size all over the court a star player a burgeoning star in Lamb a low post double double guy Orihaki--another 7 footer who has played well---a nice array of long athletic Sfs and a cool skilled freshmen PG Shabazz napier. I know we can beat any team--but its still a young team. Kemba has been shooting poorly % wise. I think hes going to find that happy medium of 20-10-5 and then his shooting % will move back up.

The U-convicts are living on borrowed time. SJU will be a force to be reckoned with once Lavin's star class comes in next year. First the Knicks and now the Redmen As for Jimmer, his game reminds me a little of Deron Williams when he was at Illionois. Both are physical and know how to get their Js off. I also see a little bit of Gerry McNamara in his game as well, which isn't necessarily a good thing at the level. It's funny how much of a difference half a step can make between playing in the NBA and playing in Finland.

Guy was great again tonight. He doesn't have the NBA athletic ability you want to see but my goodness he has everything else. If he played for a team like the Knicks where you had to guard a Carmelo and Amare---then he is lethal because if his quick release. I think like some players fit will do him justice--NY perfect for him.

A good PG you will hear in the future is Kendall Williams from New Mexico and 2G Jeremy lamb from Uconn

He's getting so much hype now, I think he'll go in lottery a la Stephen Curry at this point.

I don't think so. I think hes a guy who goes 15-25. He would be nice here as Ray's back up.

If Adrian Woj is tweeting about him and NBA execs are already talking about him, I'd say he's going lottery:

Another NBA exec at BYU tonight: "Easier to teach 'D' than to drop 25 foot bombs in people's faces. Steph didn't defend at Davidson either."

WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski
Texted with a couple NBA execs at BYU tonight. Says one of Jimmer: "Normal questions about size and athleticism, but he's a special scorer."

Syracuse just doesn't have a go-to scorer and they're all young. The guys who want to be the go-to scorers like Mookie Jones and Dion Waiters are not consistent enough to help the team through tough patches. So what's been happening through this three game stretch is that they've lost their confidence.

Why they're not better on defense is anyone's guess. The easy answer is that they're lazy in the back line and don't close out enough in that match-up zone.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

I've heard different things. That we didn't like him and then he pulled out of the draft but the below article says we liked him and then he pulled out? Clearly if we have Stat and Melo, he would be an INCREDIBLE shooter from the outside. I'm sure his defense would suck (man to man) just like Curries (though he gets steals.) With his shooting anything is worth it. Regarding Curry, his defense seems to not be helping GS. He gives up on the other end what he scores on one end.

Anyway, I think it will be like S. Curry, his stock goes up before the draft. Though Curry see's the floor great and that partly was responsible for his stock rising, along with his great shooting of course (in workouts too).

One Thing is for Sure, Fredette Can Fill it

By Tommy Dee on Jan 27, 2011, 10:20 am

Without question, this is my favorite time of year because I get to sit down and watch a zillion college games whether at home or in person and try to evaluate. Like coaching, or blogging for that matter, you have to live scouting, even if it means watching a game at 3 am after the outcome was decided hours ago.

Jimmer Fredette is an interesting player. The 6’2 senior from BYU was semi-recruited Siena College, one of the two Division 1 teams to show interest, who were comfortable with Ronald Moore running the show. The Saints were good, damn good, and Fredette, from nearby Glens Falls, packed his bags and headed out west. The rest as they say is history.

The kid is a scoring machine, but like all scorers and shooters, they can become high attempt, low field goal players and that hurts offensive flow and efficiency.

He takes a ton of shots, and makes them and the first thing you look at, I was always told when evaluating a player to see if he can play at the next level is not how many he scores, but how he scores.

Can he create his own shot against longer and more athletic defenders? Yes.
Can he split double teams, find and pull up in the paint or take it to the basket? Yes.
Does he have break down dribble moves that create separation, I would say he’s pretty good at that.
Can he catch and shoot? Yes.
Can he consistently make from 5 or more spots on the court? You betcha probably closer to 10.
Does he make teammates better? This is the one I’d have to explore more because he’s a classic gunner. Steph Curry saw the floor tremendously well and that was an added element to his wonderful touch.
Is he physical enough for the NBA? I would say yes.
Can he guard? I’d say as well as Curry at this point.

I know there will be teams who love him, like the Knicks were after his workout before deciding to head back to Provo for one more year, and right now he’s an interesting draft prospect to keep an eye on. But you can bet now, after last night’s impressive performance against a very tough, athletic San Diego State team, more eyes are open and will be until March.

the middle part of the game from 10 to maybe 6-7 minutes into the 2nd half--was an incredible display. He had one shot that was a goal tedn (i mean as bad as it gets) and a few questionable is it a foul deals when shooting trying to get to the line--but iother than that--what a game. he also made some nice passes early that kept being dropped--so thats misleading if you didnt see the game. All in all that was a great show-fans who didnt see that game missed out.

Let me throw .02 on Kemba Walker. He's no the tallest guy but he's going to be a really good NBA PG. Hes been forced into the role of scorer when really hes a PG first player. I think the role he has taken on will actually hurt his draft stock--who wants a 6-0 180 SG? but the reality is hes a lightning fast agile tough PG(great handle and court awareness) with a high IQ who will graduate in 3 years and plays both sides of the ball at a premium level. It will be interesting to see who is better in the NBA. I think if both are on the right team--they will really be nice pieces.

I think NBA draft has the top 6 right in terms of Irving Kenter P and T Jones Sullinger and Derrick Williams. I would take Kenter first if he measures out at 6-11 260. Perry Jones has been impressive although his body needs work--but hes a top 5 pick. After that it's buyers choice. 2nd time I saw Leonard---to me hes a 6-7 garbage man--is that a lottery pick?
