I've heard different things. That we didn't like him and then he pulled out of the draft but the below article says we liked him and then he pulled out? Clearly if we have Stat and Melo, he would be an INCREDIBLE shooter from the outside. I'm sure his defense would suck (man to man) just like Curries (though he gets steals.) With his shooting anything is worth it. Regarding Curry, his defense seems to not be helping GS. He gives up on the other end what he scores on one end.
Anyway, I think it will be like S. Curry, his stock goes up before the draft. Though Curry see's the floor great and that partly was responsible for his stock rising, along with his great shooting of course (in workouts too).

One Thing is for Sure, Fredette Can Fill itBy Tommy Dee on Jan 27, 2011, 10:20 am
Without question, this is my favorite time of year because I get to sit down and watch a zillion college games whether at home or in person and try to evaluate. Like coaching, or blogging for that matter, you have to live scouting, even if it means watching a game at 3 am after the outcome was decided hours ago.
Jimmer Fredette is an interesting player. The 6’2 senior from BYU was semi-recruited Siena College, one of the two Division 1 teams to show interest, who were comfortable with Ronald Moore running the show. The Saints were good, damn good, and Fredette, from nearby Glens Falls, packed his bags and headed out west. The rest as they say is history.
The kid is a scoring machine, but like all scorers and shooters, they can become high attempt, low field goal players and that hurts offensive flow and efficiency.
He takes a ton of shots, and makes them and the first thing you look at, I was always told when evaluating a player to see if he can play at the next level is not how many he scores, but how he scores.
Can he create his own shot against longer and more athletic defenders? Yes.
Can he split double teams, find and pull up in the paint or take it to the basket? Yes.
Does he have break down dribble moves that create separation, I would say he’s pretty good at that.
Can he catch and shoot? Yes.
Can he consistently make from 5 or more spots on the court? You betcha probably closer to 10.
Does he make teammates better? This is the one I’d have to explore more because he’s a classic gunner. Steph Curry saw the floor tremendously well and that was an added element to his wonderful touch.
Is he physical enough for the NBA? I would say yes.
Can he guard? I’d say as well as Curry at this point.
I know there will be teams who love him, like the Knicks were after his workout before deciding to head back to Provo for one more year, and right now he’s an interesting draft prospect to keep an eye on. But you can bet now, after last night’s impressive performance against a very tough, athletic San Diego State team, more eyes are open and will be until March.
