I think its a great trade. AR is a player that can't get minutes on a playoff team. He may eventually be a star in this league, but I wouldn't sacrifice playoff position to find out if it can happen here.

We get a 1st rounder, great.

That means we can use the pick if the Nets/Nuggs trade falls apart.

Also means we'll have an open roster spot for Barron or similar D-League wannabe's.

Too many benefits to ignore, make that deal Donnie!

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

We need some picks - if we dont get a player back I would want the protection extremely limited or none at all but thats a long shot considering AR doesnt play.

Long and athletic swing forward 3/4, has a frame that screams upside, but hailing from a program that traditionally hasn't produced fundamentally sound, basketball skilled players. Would have been better off staying another year from a basketball standpoint, but from a business standpoint….that paper calls. Has a little better feel for the game than the most recent LSU freshmen to bolt, (Tyrus Thomas), but still a bit raw. Randolph could create problems for opponents on defense with his length and athleticism, but is pretty thin and that will hurt him in guarding physical power forwards. Right now, not much more than an athlete, first 2 years of guidance, coaching and dedication will determine if he can become a basketball player.

wasn't the point of this possible deal to have a pick to give to denver for melo?

also, i believe this year's draft is not considered all that.

Forum Po Po and #33 for a reason...

No deal please, the Twolves wont give up this years top 5 pick and CLippers own the 2012 Twolves pick, so at earliest its 2013. AR has loads of talent, at least let him have a few 20 Minute games before we dump him cheaply

I believe the pick we would receive from Minn would be Utah's 2011 first rounder. Is that correct?

Yeah, pretty accurate then, and now.

Heck...he should have stayed in college another 2 years, but then again, if you don't have a coach to learn from, what's the point?

I pretty sure that LSU had a losing record the year he played, too.

SELL!!!

i can certainly see where you're coming from SC but i think for once we can actually afford to wait on a young player, stash him on the bench and hope he learns how to utilize all the talent he possesses. believe me, i know how bad AR has looked this year, but i know he's not this bad of a player and hopefully he's working hard with the coaches everyday and that it clicks for him between the ears.

i just think 1/2 year is much too short of a time to give up on a 21yo with the kind of talent he has.

...they kept Tayshaun Prince on the bench for a significant amount of time, before realizing what a mistake they made, too.

Good point. Could you imagine what would have happened if we gave up on Chandler when he was bricking shots off the side of the backboard? Play Randolph. We are not winning a championship this year, we have nothing to lose.

well i agree on keeping randolph, but i don't agree on playing him just to play him because we're not winning a championship, that's not how you build successful teams. if he's not earning his time in practice then he should NOT be playing - hopefully he's working hard with the coaches to improve what d'antoni wants him to improve on and that he's being humbled by this experience.

I think he's going to fall into that "wasted talent" category. I think if you trade him now you get some value on his age, where he was drafted, and another team thinking that they can get him to develop better than the Knicks or Warriors

Yes it would have to be, either that or the Memphis pick they own (what a suprise that Berman doesn't do even the most basic research!) as the Wolves amazingly stupidly traded their own 2011 pick to the clippers (top 10 protected)- but in 2012 that pick is completely unprotected! stupid, stupid, stupid. Anyways that means that the can't trade their 2011, or 2013 (as that pick will be a 2012 since they're a lottery team this year)

Good point. The example of Walker and Williams combining for 48 points last night shows that if you put in the work, you will get into the game. There was even a Roger Mason sighting. Can AR be that far off?
