Melo is not a ball mover, and this team thrives on ball movement
Melo is not commited to defense, and this team plays best when guys are defending
Melo is going to cost a fortune
Melo plays the same position as our best 3 young players. Fields/Gallo/Chandler are all versatile 3s than can slide into different positions
Melo is not a superstar. He's an all star.

I just hope when and if we get him the cost is reasonable and he buys into what we are doing here, because we are doing pretty good without him

Do you consider Paul Pierce a SuperStar?

I consider him an All Star. He will be HOF.

He proved he could not carry the franchise and needed Help.

I can live with Melo as an allstar and nobody saying he sucks.

Its mostly a disagreement as to how he gets here and how much cap he eats.

Most would have to agree even as a free agent was would be unbalanced at the Wing and understaffed for aa big.

A likely trade or sign and trade would happen to acquire one. If you blow your wad on trading for Melo This season his contract would eat up our flexability and we'd have less assets to get a big.

If Melo was a bonafide superstar as the nets value him then perhaps you go all in.

If The Nets value him as such, and as do you perhaps you can root for him as a Net.

Unless they are playing the Knicks, I sure will be. If Knicks are eliminated and Nets still in playoffs, im rooting for them.

Jets-Giants, unless they are both in the superbowl I root for NY teams. Even if I think Rex is an ass. But he is our ass.

Mets-Yanks, unless they are in the Series, IM hopeing both win! Interleague play is so over rated I don't really care when they play each other. Who sits and watches all those freaking games?

Nets? Can't say I love this roster but once upon a time they had a dude named Dr. J and he could fly!

ANd we could buy a $2 ticket and watch him fly. And it was fun! We bond with teams from our yoot. For some its Clyde/Willis/Earl/Dave etc.... or King/Sparrow.......or Ewing & Co. Nets had me with Dr. J, Mr. K, The Hammer, and the BT express! 2 ABA championships! NBA didn't have Erving. But we did on Long Island! HE was ours and he could FLY!

Some good stuff here, and I agree with you on many things.

Those old ABA Nets were fun to watch, and you forgot the Rick Barry Nets, which almost won a title.

I can't root for the Yankees, though, despite being a fan in the early 60's.

Thats right, "feisty" Rick Barry tore up the ABA and lost in finals in 1972 (as did Knicks) with Billy Paultz and Bill Melcioni (sp). I think they lost to the Kentucky team that had Rick Dampier, Dan Issel and Artis Gilmore.
