The Minnesota Timberwolves held "internal discussions" about trying to obtain guard O.J. Mayo(notes) from the Memphis Grizzlies, but a source told CBS Sports that those conversations ended before Mayo's name made it into the papers for something other basketball: a fight on a plane with teammate Tony Allen(notes) over a gambling debt.

However, CBS notes that the Wolves remain interested in New York Knicks benchwarmer Anthony Randolph(notes), believing the "third team could be a charm" for the talented but raw big man, according to a source.

Since being drafted in the first round of the 2008 draft by the Golden State Warriors, the 6-11 forward out of LSU has averaged 8.3 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game. For the Knicks, he is averaging only two points and 2.4 rebounds per game this season.

Camby said he was ok going to NY a couple weeks ago.

I think we need to hold on to AR for a potential Anthony trade. I have not seen Flynn enough to know whether he can be our answer at backup pg. I know he was considered a solid pg during the draft but for whatever reason he is not starting in Minny. We don't need another Nate Robinson or TD. We need an actual pg. If Flynn can do the job, then I would trade AR for him if the Anthony deal falls through. Flynn is young and still on the rookie pay scale.

Flynn had hip surgery and is still trying to work his way back into the lineup. He's been showing rust from what I've read which is why it might be easier to make a deal. Wolves are going to hit a log jam at PG with Ridnauer and Rubio who has reportedly said he will come to the NBA next season. I haven't see a lot of him Flynn either but enough to know that he looks like he is the instant offense off the bench we need. Flynn looks like he would thrive in an MDA offense. I know youtube videos are a selective sampling but here is another clip to give you a glimpse of what he can do when at 100%.

Warning music has strong language so turn it down if you're at work!
