I've seen him play this season and he still makes boneheaded plays. He still makes stupid goal tending violations and he still gets caught out of position on defense. Some of this might remind of you of a former LSU player who now sits on our bench. I like DeAndre Jordan. Dut the thing that worries me about him is that if you pay him, you're still paying based off of potential.

well, i am thinking that Jordan of last year may be very different than this year.

IMO the only thing that's changed is him getting more minutes.

how do you know if you are not watching him play?

if u look across the board his stats are pretty consistent w/what he put up last year w/an incremental increase in minutes played... his free throw % has gone up from 38% to 46%, not really much to be excited about there (why am i getting Fishlips flashbacks all of a sudden)... he's averaging .7 more shot attempt per game this year as compared to last year & shooting a higher % from the floor by about 8%... again, nothing much to get excited about... he's averaging 7 & 7 in 24 minutes playing on a 12 win team... last year AR averaged 12 & 7 in 23 minutes played on a bad GS Warriors team playing in the exact same division while also demonstrating the same kinds of raw fundamentals in his game but with a more highly developed offensive skillset, & yet you think DJ would fare better in an MDA system than AR? i don't see it personally.

Would you guys do this deal if you were Donnie? (assuming the melo deal goes down this week as reported)

AR/Gallo/Douglas/Curry

to Atlanta for

Josh Smith, Mo Evans, Jeff Teague

We'd be giving up some cap space, but getting the best rebounding wing in the NBA in Smith(12.2 Per 40min) with the ability to defend and I could see MikeD using him almost as a center against a lot of teams.

Teague would be a better fit in my opinion as a more natural combo guard with better outside shooting numbers.

That team could create crazy mismatches against most teams and could just plain match-up against a Heat team that seems to be pulling away from the rest of the league at the moment.

Atlanta might value Curry more than most because there's at least a chance that he could come in with Craw off the bench and have an impact like they did together with the Knicks.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Denver is desperate. I feel it.

So are the Nets if they are willing to take Melo without a long term deal in place.

if we missed out on Melo i would make that trade in a heartbeat... Josh Smith could play the Marion role in MDA's system & his shotblocking would just add to our strength... also agree w/u on Teague, he's a solid perimeter shooter, but we might miss TD's perimeter D... i'd look to get Etan Thomas from them too cuz he'd add some nice depth to our frontcourt... he's hardly even playing for them as it is, they'd probably just include him as a throw in... that is if they're lookign to break up their core... they are a playoff contender afterall

Yeah, it would be a lot for us to give up for someone who is marginally better than Iggy, but I think the handful of rebounds and impacted shots that he gives you a game would be a difference maker. I think MDA could find some crazy lineups to put together with a player like that.

Atlanta hopefully would do it because they need to drop payroll at some point and would be getting a lot of value in return.

Gallo could be a perfect #2 option going forward next to Joe Johnson on that team & doesn't look like they're gonna be extending Craw past this season... i wouldn't be surprised to see Gallo blossom into a 20 ppg scorer in that situation & it would be pretty immediate... i think both teams would make out well in that trade on paper... again, it probably all depends on whether they wanna break up that core... i doubt they'd torpedo a playoff season, so if they made a deal like that it would have to represent an upgrade in overall talent in their eyes that would help them win now... as it is i think it's obvious they're never gonna be anything more than a contender & never a realistic championship team if they keep things status quo, so maybe they'd be looking to switch things up a little like Orlando did... Gallo will have to come back & start to put up some big #'s for a team like Atlanta to sign off on a deal like that, because AR isn't adding too much value collecting DNP's.
