Melo's elite talent & diversity will allow him to excel in whatever system you put him in, i have no doubt about that whatsoever... the only question would be whether Melo would buy into the team concept that MDA's trying to preach & whether he would be amenable to playing a little less of a featured role than he might be used to playing... given the fact that he & Amare are close friends, i don't see why that would be an issue... they're both hungry to win a championship & neither one are selfish primadonnas... i think those 2 would have a lot of fun on the court playing w/each other & would have no problems putting up good numbers while doing it.

melo leads the league in attempts at the rim. amar'e is 6th. someone is going to lose touches in the paint.

people think he's a perimeter player but he's really not anymore. he's a shorter version of amar'e now.

Melo has an excellent mid-range game, so I don't think there will be any problem with him and Amare's co-existing. The reason people say his 3pt % will go up, is that he will be shooting fewer contested 3s. In playing with Amare, he will no longer be the focus of the opposing team's defense. Thus, he should see more open looks and fewer double-teams. If he works hard on his game, you would have to expect that his percentages will improve, just like Felton's and Chandler's have this season.

If Lecon and D-Wade can do it, then I have no doubt that Amare and Melo can do it. Both of these guys should be able to average 23-25 pts, which is more than enough to keep them happy.

i agree... i think the mentality of the team that Melo would be walking into is one that doesn't really care who puts up the points on any given night... that's one of the very good things MDA has instilled in this team... obviously Amare's our featured player because we run everything out of the PnR, but u could just as easily use Melo in the same role while Amare's sitting & have no falloff in production... that's why having him makes so much sense... i dunno any other player that can do everything Melo does on the floor as a scorer other than Lebron... add to that the fact that he's probably the best rebounding SF in the NBA, & is getting to the FT line at a 8.4 attempts per game clip this year, which is better than anyone on our team including Amare... that's absolutely huge... u would have 2 guys that would be putting other team's players into foul trouble.

This can go one of two ways. Melo can come in and start whining about not getting enough touches and go the Al Harrington route to being a full fledged black hole. Or he can show some maturity (Like Amare stepping up on defense) and we would average 140 a game.
TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

who would you all rather have- assuming the cost in terms of assets we give up were the same:

Camby & Andre Miller

or Carmelo?

There is something to be said for roles and playing the team game.

i'd take Melo over Camby & Dre Miller if the cost of assets were the same... wouldn't even have to think twice about that... an elite player is way harder to obtain than 2 role players.

Melo, but Ron Artest is probably the one guy I would get over Melo had that been even remotely possible.
