people think he's a perimeter player but he's really not anymore. he's a shorter version of amar'e now.
Melo has an excellent mid-range game, so I don't think there will be any problem with him and Amare's co-existing. The reason people say his 3pt % will go up, is that he will be shooting fewer contested 3s. In playing with Amare, he will no longer be the focus of the opposing team's defense. Thus, he should see more open looks and fewer double-teams. If he works hard on his game, you would have to expect that his percentages will improve, just like Felton's and Chandler's have this season.
