Nice move for th Nets if they can pull it off. I believe Billups and Hamilton are expiring deals next year too.

This move would hurt us and make life easy for Miami for the foreseeable future though.

Nice move 7 years ago.

Hamilton has 2 extra years left on his contract after this one, Billups team option for next year.

i think their priority right now is to bring some legitimacy to their franchise before their big move to Brooklyn... right now no one cares about the Nets... making a move like this would get people's attention for the next couple years at least & they'll still have a franchise face to lead their team going into their transition to a new city... a trade like this makes every bit of sense in the world for the Nets especially when they're desperately fighting for any type of attention at all in the NY market & an owner like Prokhorov with all his bravado coming into this season about the whole "blueprint for success" marketing campaign they been putting out there all over the city.

On top of that, Rip has been playing like crap the past two years. I hope the Nets make that trade so they can cripple their franchise for five more years.

that's actually not half bad... they'd definitely a team we'd have to be worried about in the EC if they manage to pull this off.

Yeah. Billups and Hamilton are getting up there, but they probably still have 2-3 more good years left. That team would be no worse than 5th best team in the east if they could come together defensively.

The Nuggets deserve what they get if they make this deal. Chandler is a proven player. THe Knicks probably would give up Curry, Chandler, TD, and a future 1st round pick for Anthony. That would give the Nuggets 2 guaranteed solid players. Yet, those fools want to take the Nets offer of an always hurt PG, an unproven PF, and first round picks that the Nuggets are probably going to screw up anyway. IMO the Knicks offer is just as solid. THe Nuggets should take it.

have we made an offer yet? some media sources are implying that the Knicks are trying to convince Melo to wait til free agency... but then we did hear DW say he's going to sign Wilson to an extension this summer... so much cloak & dagger sheit going around, u can never tell which rumors to believe & which one's are just BS... can't wait for the deadline to roll around.

Uh? That team is garbage. Rip Hamilton doesn't even start anymore for a terrible Detroit team and Chauncey Billups is over the hill. Carmelo Anthony's current Denver team is MUCH better.

Denver can keep looking but their only play is NY!!! These deals i've been reading are garbage and the end result is always Melo agreeing to be with a HORRID team in Jersey. I mean do they really think he's gonna sign off on that cuz of Billups who he's willing to leave now and an aging Rip?

Denver needs to cut this bs and just take Danilo Gallinari and Eddy Curry for Melo and a bad/long term contract. It's not going to get any better.

History says you can't trade a player of the level of Carmelo Anthony and stay competative. When Philadelphia traded Charles Barkley, they went into the tank. When we traded Patrick Ewing, we went into the tank. When Cleveland and Toronto lost LeBron James and Chris Bosh, they too went into the tank. You just can't lose that type of player and stay a good team.

maybe not a top contender but easily good enough to be a #7 or #8 seed in the EC, i have no doubt about that in my mind... who's better? Indy? Philly? Milwaukee? they probably wouldn't overtake us for the #6 seed considering we already have 11 more wins, but i bet that team would be no pushover in the playoffs.

Sure let's add short term rent-a-Melo and two players well past their prime (you can always tell when someone's actually going to be out of the league or an assistant coach in two years when they're described as having "two or three more good years left." <-- Kiss of death.

Plus Rip is now less than one-dimensional.

The Nyets will continue to post a .250 record for the forseeable future. Copyright UK 2011.

Whatever happens, melo-wise, just please don't bring JR Probation anywhere near the Garden.

Not only is he always hurt, he hasn't led that team anywhere near respectabilty, they have been worse then anything i have ever seen.

Rip is done, billup wants a buy out, no one want Al's contract, and lopez is just too soft for his own good..NJ will give up there best picks and melo would be a bone head to re-up with a franchise that has no identity, no fan base, and will alway remain 2nd fiddle to the knicks, even if they set up shop across the street from MSG
