thanks for keeping some perspective.. everyone had a great game tonight.. hell even fields broke out of his slump... chandler had some good looks tonight... spurs didn't matchup that well, suprisingly.... people are talking star about a guy who can't dribble and look up at the same time.. he had a very good game, but lets pump the brakes a bit..

To be fair, you've been pumping the brakes on Chandler all year regardless of how good a game he has. Even when you try to give Chandler credit as you did in the game thread, you always seem to nitpick some part if his game(lol at him getting ripped by Blair.) Was that even necessary? It seems your posts about Chandler are reactionary towards any negativity Gallo might receive.

it was an analysis.. why don't you police the rest of the board with the trade gallo post after one good game.. these types of post were noexistent sunday when chandler got locked down by a team with real SF's.... but whatever...

Pump the brakes if you like tkf. That is your choice.

As The Mayor's Campaign Manager I say shake and pop a cold one... and spray your closest neighbor.

The Knicks just beat the best team in the league and if you cannot celebrate the team performance led by Chandler, you will be waiting for a better game all season.

Mr Earl, I have to give you credit - you might have been right about the Mayor. He looks pretty damn good this season.

Hearing those remarks about how he was in the gym on New Years Eve was jaw-dropping. Just wanting to get up some shots and continue working on his game.

Dude really makes me wanna forget Melo sometimes ;)

until you watch melo.. did you see melo last night?

Nah, this wasn't another 6-27 performance I assume? =)

crzymdups - thank you for the kind words but to be perfectly transparent the entire Mayoral Campaign has been as much a fun romp as it has been any evidence of basketball knowledge. The young man simply has a quiet style that is unusual in these days of self-promotion and end zone celebrations.

and it doesn't hurt that he is 6'8 235 with hops like a gazelle.

Chandler is Old School in the sense that he is the same no matter what. Clyde never smiled either. Like Landry Fields, dese two yoots do their jobs without drawing attention to themselves.

The Mayor saw an opening to step up tonight and he took it. Just for the record, for the season he is shooting a gaudy 48 per cent from the field, including 38 per cent from three point distance. He is also the second leading shot blocker.

The best part? He knows he can get better.

DENVER -- Carmelo Anthony made a point of driving the lane and taking the ball to the hoop. He was rewarded with some easy buckets and plenty of trips to the free throw line.

In his second game back since being away from the team for eight days -- five games -- to be with his family after the death of his sister, Anthony finished with 33 points and the Nuggets pulled ahead in the late going to beat the Houston Rockets 113-106 on Monday night for their fourth consecutive win.

"I was just trying to be aggressive and get to the rack," said Anthony, who had 11 rebounds and made 13 of 14 free throws to help the Nuggets fend off the Rockets with his eighth game of 30 or more points this season. "Sometimes they called it; sometimes they didn't. You know, when you shoot 14 free throws, it's hard for them to call every time you get fouled. They're going to miss some calls. But that is one of the strengths of my game, getting to the free throw line, and tonight I was effective at that."

I think Wil Chandler sucked some "fan favorite" out of David Lee's arm when he bit him

Chandler has elevated his game to the point that I think he could be a 21 pt/6 rb/2 blk type of guy, which is borderline All-star. But he still is not in Melo's class as a scorer. Melo can be simply unstoppable when he wants to be, and in the playoffs, you need unstoppable guys to overcome the tough defenses you will face. The only reason I would not trade Chandler for Melo is defense. Chandler is a much better and more consistent defender. I have seen Melo play defense, but he only plays defense when the game is on the line. He pretty much coasts the rest of the game. In Chandler, we have a guy that can guard 2s, 3s, and 4s. I doubt Melo could guard any players other than 3s for extended minutes. Thus, if you trade Chandler, you have to get a center that MDA will actually play so that Melo can play his natural position.

I have gone back and forth over this, but if we can get Melo for Chandler, then you have to do that trade. What this does mean though is that we should not have to gut our team. Chandler, 1st round pick (or AR), Walker, Curry, and $3 million cash should get the deal done. We should be able to keep Gallo and TD.

Chandler has taken a significant step forward. He's way better now than he was last year or any year prior. He has become a true all arounder.

I don't think Chandler will ever be as good or as valuable as Melo but I don't know that he needs to be. I think its clear that Chandler + Fields or Chandler + Gallo is too much to give up for Melo.

I agree.

The ridiculous thing is that the Nuggets ever acted like the Knicks don't have good young players or anything they'd want in a trade.

in what world... Did you see the list of young forwards in the east.. good luck.... lebron, gay, amare, the list goes on.. and BTW... gallo has more votes than chandler who is not even on the ballot.. what does that tell you? NO one is voting chandler into an all star game..... The league does not see him the way you do... Heck dorell wright is having a season just as good in GS.... I think some of you are going a bit overboard... the Allstar talk has to stop... david lee averaged 20 and 12 and still just eeked his way onto the allstar team, and this was him coming off a big year prior...

nuggets are not going for that.. but they may have no choice.. you are going to have to give up 2 young pieces, especially when you don't have picks....

gay plays in the west. who else is on your list?

also, this article mentions that wilson is in the running as an all-star contender (and yes i realize the article isn't saying he should be an all-star, but i think it's significant that a writer from another team casually mentions wilson is a candidate - it means perception-wise people think he is a borderline all-star):

http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/miamiheat/post/_/id/3132/is-chris-bosh-an-all-star

Unless coaches harbor serious anti-Heat resentment, Bosh should garner more support than other forwards in the field, such as Josh Smith, Wilson Chandler or Carlos Boozer.

it really seems like you have sort of grudge against wilson. relax, he's pretty damn good and he's ours.

edit: i'm not arguing that wilson is an all-star - the team doesn't have enough wins to get more than amar'e and maybe felton. but wilson is playing damn good ball.

my bad with gay, but you have bosh, boozer, iggy, josh smith, all of which are better....

and I have no grudge.. but I see a lot of people going overboard with chandler at the expense of others... and honestly, if gallo wasn't here and getting a lot of attention, 80% of the people here would be saying the same thing I am saying now.... one way to put down another player is to overrate another.... It is subtle, but it is there.. anyway... I will sit back.. wait a few games and then take the pulse of this board.. should be interesting...

Not just Denver, but David Kahn too, I believe he said that we had no one of value on our roster about a year ago. How do you like them apples now David? I could see Kahn calling up Walsh asking about Chandler:

Kahn: So, Donnie, how about I give you the PG you need for Chandler?
Donnie: Rubio, huh. So you're finally admitting he's not going to play for you?
Kahn: I didn't say Rubio. Telfair. Sebastian Telfair. He's what you need.
Donnie: for Chandler?
Kahn: Chandler and a pick, yeah.
Donnie: I'll tell you what. When they fire your a** up there you can come and work for me again. Shining my shoes.
Kahn: No more shines, Donnie.
Donnie: What?
Kahn: I don't shine shoes no more. Maybe you didn't hear about it, but I'm a GM now, and I don't shine shoes no more.
Donnie: Relax, will ya? Ya flip right out, what's got into you? I'm breaking your balls a little bit, that's all. I'm only kidding with ya...
Kahn: Sometimes you don't sound like you're kidding, you know...
Donnie: I'm only kidding with you, we're having a party, we just beat the Spurs and I haven't talked to you in a long time and I'm breaking your balls, and you're getting fresh. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you.
Kahn: I'm sorry too. It's okay. No problem.
Donnie: Okay, salud.
Donnie: Now go home and get your f*in' shinebox.

Though of course, Donnie doesn't get whacked.

The new new core: Randle, RJ, IQ. Maybe Mitch. Future pick. Future trade. Future FA.
Do we already have our second star? *Chandler*
