more interested in a C a high quality 6th man and another vet we can get for fairly cheap like Grant Hill + sign Wilson to a 6 years 45mm $ extension

We score points--we need another big who is 6-11 260+ who can play a 6th man who can rotate with our scorers who is good for 14-17 points and and a vet like Grant Hill who will take less going for a championship. TD and a draft pick PG should be able to handle back up 1 guard. Carmelo isnt a guy like wade etc.. who is a passer and makes players better--hes a scorer and we dont need that.

I think the team to target is Sacramento. With Cousins there they might be willing to trade Thompson or Dalembert. I know Philly fans were very frustrated with Dalembert but he might do very well in NY and he is a big body. Thompson would be awesome as well. Sac seems like the perfect trade partner as Westphal is constantly juggling his line up.

AZ and AR are those pieces.

There is no trade that helps the knicks into the upper echelon that doesn't involve melo.

The upgrade has to come from within or be a blockbuster.

Dantoni only plays 8 in a game. That's his style.

Good post. I think we are at Melo and the Nugget's mercy to some extent. If and when we get him W/O gutting our roster, we can then look to add role players. If we are not going to get him then we add a different set of role players but we can't do jack before the Melo situation is resolved.

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

so i take it you on board with the F a melo decision during the off season.

no, i'm on board with the F Nene & Marc Casol decision during the off season

haaa! ok ok i laughed out loud over that.

ar >> nene marc there i said it.

Count your blessings guys. We're growing beforeyour eyes and you're not happy. Melo is going to show up and you'll be wondering where your mojo went. Next up; the Heat

i'm very happy... just not sure how far this team can go as presently constructed.

We're still in the bottom tier of playoff teams because we lack a second star.

it's hard for me to picture us taking 4 games out of 7 facing the Celtics, Heat, Lakers or Spurs... young teams like ours usually need to go through some trials in playoff play & a few disappointments before they take that final step to becoming a viable championship contender, & oftentimes that involves adding that last missing piece... playoff basketball is a whole different animal than regular season games.

Agree. We're a first round team at the moment, and that's a good thing considering the way things have been for a decade. We've begun to pave the road back to respectability. But realistically, getting to the first round and losing to Miami, Boston, and Orlando is probably the course of action that is set to take place beginning April. If we land Melo, we would surely appease tasting our own blood before experiencing success.

i think we might get past the 1st round if we get the right matchup... it's not unrealistic to think we can make it in as a 4-6 seed... i think we have enough to beat a team like the Hawks, but the better teams have a way of slowing down the pace of the game & dictating by playing suffocating defense... that's when a top flight scorer becomes really necessary.

The ideal matchup is Chicago getting 3 and us getting 6 because its obvious we can beat them. A matchup against Atlanta wouldn't be impossible either.

Regardless of it, its so refreshing to talk about first round matchups in December lol.

Would be a fun match-up, but tough to judge them without Noah.

Plus, wasn't Boozer out the first time we played them?
