Draftnet: Fields was a plain old blunder

All I can say about this draft is WTF. For all those still supporting Walsh, I think you are starting to see what I have been saying about this guy not really making the moves this team needs to climb from the bottom.

Lance Stephenson, Alabi, and they pick two bum juices

i gotta say walsh absolutely got **** on for this draft. Grade: F

Do these guys fill a need? Did the Knicks actually work them out? It seems that they could have been had as undrafted free agents.

you know what, im done. this is ****ing pathetic. landry fields, who the **** are you.

Good night--we just took two guys we couldve picked up with no picks

NY Knicks with a MASSIVE failure. ANOTHER Forward.
No Willie Warren? No Big?
Im done Fuck you Walsh.

I I STAYED UP TO WATCH NY CHOOSE TWO COMMUNITY PICKS AT 38 AND 39

Chad Ford: "Knicks take Landry Fields with their second pick. Fields wasn't in my Top 100. First time a team drafts a player out of my Top 100 in yrs"

This guy (Fields) isnt going to do a dam thing in the NBA. Why do people insist on talking themselves into hyping garbage picks.
These guys will not sniff the court.

Simple put these are wasted picks. Do you see the picks Miami made? Do you see the picks the Nets made?
Lebron must be dying to play with Douglas.
We needed some guys with upside. Willie Warren and Lance Stephon were guards with upside. We got neither. I have been watching the Knicks for awhile now. I know where this is going.

Would love the hear what those draft experts have to say now

Not hard to find out, since most of the above comments were from the UK draft night thread.

I was also surprised, and made the " we could have picked them up after the draft" type comment.

Not hard to find stuff on Fields that night which told me that we should hold off on condemning him as a pick.

VDesai was the early poster who found some stuff on Fields and told folks to not immediately dismiss the pick of Fields as a major mistake by DW.

I will say that I do think we could have gotten them as undrafted FA or even later in the draft, so that part is true. However, every one just missed on Fields. The reason was clear. It was a down year for his division and he played as an undersized PF who scouted doubted could turn into a guard. Obviously, the scouts failed to recognize that he could shoot from the outside and could guard the SG position in the NBA, and thus, his lack a size as a PF became a huge asset as a good sized SG with a rebounding mentality.

Trust the Process

Was fields' put back off Turiaf's FT legit? I thought that the person outside the paint had to wait until the ball hit the rim to enter the paint for the rebound.

At the time, I had never heard of Fields and also thought that we could have signed him as an undrafted FA. However, Simmons had Steve Kerr on his podcast very early in the season and said that he was going to draft Fields with the 46th pick if we didn't grab him. I would have to think some of the teams on the other coast were more aware of him.
