lol. It ain't like the 80s anymore. White guys who can score and rebound are on losing teams now.

What I'd like to know is were there any other deals out there for Lee besides the one with GS? I realize Lee could've walked for nothing and it was good to get something for him but this deal hasn't been as good as I hoped ---- Turiaf's been OK (I thought he'd be a little better) but he's been injury-prone and he is on the hook for $4.36M next year, Azu's been hurt all year and may never play for us and AR hasn't been given any opportunity to prove himself here (and might never get it)...Makes me think that maybe we should've taken a different deal if there was one out there..Anyone know? Was there anything else on the table or even being discussed at the time for Lee as he was walking out the door?

and Mosgov also. It fits. If we couldnt add Felton than its a different story. Lee was a sign and trade and we took back close to even money. We could have just kept Lee. He could have played 12 minutes at PF keeping Amare's minutes down to 35ish and played another 25 minutes at center. Is there any doubt Lee would be helping us win playing along Amare and Felton in this system?

Yes- I think Lee Amare Gallo Felton and Fields with Chandler & Douglas off the bench would win.

But- am I crazy for still wanting Randolph to get a chance? His lack of playing time- whatever the real reason- is what is making the Lee trade look bad, then an AZ being finished.

I suspect Walsh had hopes that Randolph could evolve into a camby type impact player on defense. I don't think anyone could have predicted Chandler blocking shots like he has.

in a nutshell you would be taking the 30 win team from the last 2 years, keeping the best players in Lee, Chandler, Gallo and Douglas and upgrading the frontcourt with Amare and the backcourt with Felton. You bring in an impact rookie like Fields and your pushing 50 wins.... you can still sign Mosgov and bring him along. Shawn Williams could still be here, etc etc

hey... bitching about Lee is water under the bridge, but as of now its a bad move. I'm hoping like hell AR turns in the player you and I think he can be.

If D'Antoni won't play Mozgov cause of bad hands and offensive ineptitude, how is OK4 going to get minutes here?

Wasn't Minny interested at one point? I know Lee went there to meet with Rambis and co and came away impressed? Did they ever make a formal offer for him??

Once it was clear Lebron wasn't coming here, I was hoping we'd sign Amar'e, DLee and Ray Felton.

Felton
Fields
Gallo
Amar'e
DLee

bench: Wilson, Toney, Walker/Williams

Then you can still use Curry's deal to find a center.

But Donnie wanted to swing for the fences and try for Melo. I can't fault him, because Melo certainly WANTED to come here... but it's hard to keep swinging for the fences and missing. But I understand Donnie's philosophy - why tie up the cap long-term unless you have a superstar to tie the caproom with?

It's just kind of a painful process.

Can't believe Minnesota even considered DLee over KLove... I can't believe David Kahn figures out how to put on his pants each morning either though...

Everyone is being a bit of a revisionist historian here. I know I was one of maybe three that was "okay" with a Lee + Amar'e front court, but I flip flopped so much on that one I could've ran for US Senate. Come on. No one was 100 percent for the matador defense frontline because no one wanted to sacrifice on THIS YEAR'S free agency. At the time, we were all thrilled with the package too. I'm far from high on Randolph but I don't think his career is over yet and have been happy with Turiaf as well

As much as I'd love his offense and rebounding, I dont want to see a frontcourt with Lee and Amare. And there's no way we're paying a guy 13 mill or whatever he got to come off the bench. Lee and Amare would be nice offensively given how effecient lee is, but i dont think lee puts us over the top of anything. And paying okafor also? Whoa that's a disaster. That's a lot of money and not enough minutes to go around.

David Lee > Kevin Love. Neither play defense, both are excellent rebounders, but Lee's offensive game is head and shoulders above Love.

I know this a little off topic, but it looks like Lee is having a bit of a down yearwith the Warriors. Anyone here watch enough Warriors games to be able to say why? I have feeling that their guards--as great as they are--aren't getting the rest the team involved as much as they should.

keeping David Lee at the cost of not having enough flexibility to target Melo this offseason... i think i'll pass on that idea.

it's because the Warriors don't focus their offense around him like we did in NY... they have 2 talented G's who can put up 30 on any given night that carry the offense & Lee is in more of a supplementary role.

i disagree... Kevin Love brings better range shooting the ball & would actually make more sense for the Knicks than someone like David Lee would... Lee needs to work in the PnR to be effective offensively & that ain't gonna happen w/Amare here... this belief that an Amare/Lee frontcourt could have somehow worked out is a fallacy... the same people thought an Eddy Curry & Zach Randolph front court would yield positive results & we all saw how that turned out... Amare needs spacing in order to be effective... having D Lee lurking around in the high post zone would only serve to clog up the lane... a guy like Kevin Love could at least spread the defense w/his 3 pt shooting ability, something Lee has not yet perfected... both bring terrific rebounding... Lee is probably a better passer... both suck on defense.

There was a discussion where I said I would take Lee over Bosh, for the money, because $10mm +$7mm for Lee + Felton is far more valuable than $17mm for Bosh. I do not feel the same way about Amare who is simply better than Bosh at just about everything

Doesnt matter if Lee starts or comes off the bench. You can snit on his Carmello like defense all you want but he's an all star who scores at a very high %, rebounds and is one of the better passing bigs in the league. When Denver had Nene/KMart/Camby comeone was coming off the bench.

Frontcourt depth wins. Lee was an all star player who did well in this system.

At this point I'm very dissapointed we lost a blue collar guy who worked his way into an all star with very little to show for it. Walsh has been good here. Wondering how he patches this swing and miss.

This like revisionist history. We made the move with Lee AFTER it was clear that the # he sought was far more than ANYBODY thought he would get/be worth. When 80 million came out, he was a goner. The season is still young, and may still work in our favor.

Replace David Lee with Amar'e Stoudemire in Golden State and they are a winning team.

Anyway, we're terrible on D as it is. Adding Lee would only make it worse.

Even off the bench?

yes..
