Sure he doesn't want at big bum or a talented Kid that isn't ready, but he clearly has been searching for someone to help Amare. Any C we add has to be able to not only Defend and Rebound, but also be able to keep up with our pace and hit some shots.

Good luck with that. How many center really bring those skills to the game now a days. Put it this way if Bynum was on the Knicks MDA would have him rooted to the bench.

There are very few centers who could start in this system. That being said, the least we need to do is find solid backup centers who can play 15-20 minutes and defend the post at a high level. Turiaf is one of those players, Przybilla could be another. But even though we may not start a true center, as long as we have good backup bigs that is what is most important.

Wonder how fast he can get up and down the court in this offense.

Any thoughts around Brad Miller - excellent passer, high post game, body of a goon, extremely sharp elbows. Was capable of playing in Adelman's Sacto offense... and I guess again in Houston.

not a bad option, but not ideal... he's not the same defensive player he once was IMO, but u could do a lot worse.

It looks Portland isn't trying to hear it right now in regards to Pryz:http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/chat/_/id/36026/nba-with-ric-bucher

goyo. keizer, oregon [via mobile]

Can the Blazers trade for Andre igaduala "Iggy" trade away miller and pryzbilla & a first rounder? Or who can Portland get to improve?
Ric Bucher (1:48 PM)

Heard they offered Batum and Przybilla for Iguodala and Philly didn't bite. My sense is they'll move Roy before they move Miller.

It's Bucher, so you may take it with a grain of salt. But of it's true, you gotta wonder what teh 76ers are looking for in exhange for Iggy in the event that he does become our plan b,c or d.

I don't think Joel Pryzbilla is a fit for what we do offensively. We'd have to slow the game dramatically to accomodate his lumbering play. I like him as a player but I think Milicic has demonstrated that centers of this ilk can not be utilized in SSOL.

Kinda pathetic if D'antoni is looking for a C to play his style instead of looking for a C who does what a C is supposed to do defensively.

it's too bad a guy like Sean Williams doesn't have the kind of smarts that MDA likes in a player cuz he would seem to fit the bill in terms of need & his athletic ability to run the floor at the C position.

Williams is in the d-league averaging 15 and 9 with three blocks a game. The team he is on has a lot of talent on it.

Just looking at the team Williams is on, I don't think Rautins cracks the starting 5 on that team. He might not even in be in the top 8.

what have you seen from Rautins lately that would lead you to suggest that?

So I guess the other 29 head coaches are "pathetic" for looking at players who fill certain roles as opposed to general talent at their respective positions.

Take a look at that roster I linked to. Most of those guys had more than a cup of coffee in the NBA and were first round picks. I haven't seen anything from Rautins because he isn't playing. I did get to watch him play in the summer league and a little during preseason and nothing that I saw suggests that he has the ability to compete as an NBA player. What have you seen lately that has you convinced he is an NBA Player?

haven't seen anything from him so I wouldn't feel the need to make any type of comment.

i'm not gonna give up on Rautins just yet... he may just need a real chance to get into a groove... shooters like to get into a rhythm... maybe Rautins could grow into a JJ Redick type role player for us given the opportunity?... from what i hear about him, he's a hard working, smart, good kid that knows the game.
