I'm real happy about Felton's progress and I want him to be the man at PG, but he still isn't there yet when it comes to decision making. Still some mental lapses in the 4th, trying too hard to be the hero. But he is getting there.

Yep, Definitely so. The backup doesn't need to be an all-star, just someone who protects the ball, plays some D and can pass well.

Ray Felton is doing great for us and he'll only get better as the team gels over the course of the season. If he's doing this good now, imagine how he'll look after another month...

I disagree. I think the most important thing for our back-up PG is someone that can run the offense. Move the ball. Get us into sets. Set the pace.

By the way, Felton did a fantastic job setting the pace last night. The Celtics wanted to slow it down, but he forced them to play uptempo. He clearly won that battle over Boston's PG's.

I just hope that people will like me

This. Felton means we don't have to empty the roster or vault for CP and he will keep getting better as he picks up the team and system.

Btw, I'd look in the Dleague and europe for the back-up PG. I wouldn't waste trade pieces on him.

huge.. really huge. Pick up the 3rd year and give him a 4 year extension (age 29-33). Dude has earned his payday and we are only 25 games into this thing

How 'bout Curtis Stinson of the NBDL Iowa Energy?? 6'3", strong & sturdy, this guy's really made himself into a solid floor leader--very unselfish and a very good passer. Release Mason Jr., deal off Mozgov for a 1st round pick and add big man Dwayne Jones or Courtney Sims and PG Curtis Stinson. Try out that combination for a couple of weeks and see where it goes.

I think it's closer to fifteen years

He's in his 8th season.

According to ESPN, he's played 6 years and is 25. Finestrg's comment seemed like an unnecessary exaggeration. So I figured I'd take the exaggeration even one step further.

That said, I'm not a huge Telfair fan by any means but we can't keep playing Felton 44 minutes.

Woops, seventh season. I counted rows by 09-10 he played for two teams. Still, he's in in seventh season. Not ancient by any stretch of the imagination. As a backup, if he comes cheap, I don't care. He's not a game breaker either way, but may be an improvement over what we have.

Looky who is back!!!!! Glad to have you back on the band wagon.

Backups should be inbreed. Felton is great, we have him on the books for two more years AFTER this. No need to extend him yet.

Great teams draft to their needs. At some point we should identify a project and develope him. Maybe he exceeds expectations and becoems the starter. Why? Felton might get injured or slow down from an injury.

Also maybe felton gets eclipsed.

Good probles to have.

Actually, our backup PG will need to be capable in those areas, too. I think that the more players we have who can play solid on both ends, the better.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Whassup, Nedyal- oh, I mean Nalod! (lol, you know I haven't forgotten the good old days! :D) )

I've always been around, but not on a regular basis since my work schedule changed. How ya been, man?

It's great to see the Knicks playing exciting ball again, and winning! It's been a long while, but it seems that the Dark Ages are over, and our team is back in the light again.

I'm with you on drafting a backup 1 and groom him, but the question remains as to what we can do now to improve @ that position? We need a backup PG and a defensive C ASAP. Any suggestions?

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Yeah, that's all I was referring to.

Look, we can't keep playing Felton 42 minutes, and anyone who thinks we're going to get a GOOD backup PG mid-season without giving up a lot is living in a fantasy land. And it also doesn't make sense to give up a lot for someone who's going to play 10 or 11 mpg.

I think there's general agreement on that. I just don't know what it would take to get Telfair, but I don't know if giving up any of our rotational pieces would be worth it. What do you trade to get Telfair?

Sorry for misunderstanding you earlier..I agree with what you had to say right here -- and not only PGs, ANY halfway decent NBA-level player at any position is going to cost something. If we really want a decent backup PG that's big enough at 6'3", strong (17 bench press reps at one time not too long ago--some big men can't manage that), can score, pass it extremely well and won't cost much at all (no surrendered assets), Curtis Stinson of the Iowa Energy looks like our best bet..10-day contract for this dude--if he doesn't show progress in 10 days, away he goes..I think he'd be fine though. Probably the top D-league PG at the moment..Looked good from some tape I just watched..For what we're looking for (like Bonn said, a 10-15 min guy), he could be a solution..

Ditto for guys like 6'11" rebounder deluxe Dwayne Jones (free agent), 6'11" offensive-minded & skilled Courtney Sims (Stinson's teammate on that Energy ball club -- the two appear in a lot of NBDL video together and appear to have nice chemistry with each other), 6'11" Chris Johnson, 6'5" 2-way SG Paul Harris --- there are players out there that can improve our situation w/o surrendering valauable assets..I'd love to bring some of them in here..
