It's silly to deny that Howard is the better overall player. You HAVE to take him. Just remember one thing though, even Howard has his flaws. He had a massive amount of trouble against Boston last Spring, but I don't think it will be quite the same for Amar'e b/c he's a more refined offensive player than Howard. Amar'e needs another big man to work next to though, or else he'll get KILLED in the playoffs. He DOES play hard defense, but he just struggles against bigger guys. It's not like he doesn't try, but he just struggles.

Nelson had his way against Felton last year, but Raymond is seemingly improved, so lets see how that works out. Carter is aging and can go off any moment, but I'll take my chances with Gallo, Fields and Chandler over him and Lewis.

We can take the Magic to 7 games.

I think some here fail to realize the simple truth.

Howard can guard Amare but Amare cannot guard Howard.

probably because your simple truth just isn't true...

amar'e went 25ts/14rbs and 28pts/10 rebs in their 2 meetings last year.

I didnt see the game so who was guarding Amare? Last time I checked Amare played PF for Phoenix last year and Dwight Howard plays Center. Checking the box score I see Howard played 23 minutes in that Nov 4 game and dropped 25 and 6 but had 5 fouls. In that same game Amare dropped 25 and 14 in 34 minutes. Since we know Howard has no offensive game outside of 5 feet from the rim Im assuming Howard abused whoever was guarding him for those 23 minutes. In the 2nd game Howard had 1 FIED GOAL ATTEMPT and 17 FT's and scored 10 points and grabbed 18 rebounds. Not even seeing the game I suspect hack a shaq was in full effect.

In our current lineup Amare plays center so what do you think Howard will do to him? The fact that Howard averages as many points as he does with a pretty limited offensive game says alot. Plus Howard protects the rim. Amare offensive game is super sweet but his defense is lacking. If Amare actually defended he would probably have a 6 yr deal.

oh so now all the sudden howard might not have been guarding amar'e those games because they play different positions? you seemed pretty sure before that howard could easily stop amar'e from scoring - if this is the case what makes you so sure or are you just making more **** up?

no1 can stop dwight howard but the free throw line.

btw I love me some Felton but Jameer Nelson OWNED him in their 1st round matchup.

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

60 games and playoffs to go. I thought Orlando was built to win this year.

I would not extropolate the first 25 games across a whole season.

Knicks surge won't catch too many off guard when they start breaking down film to see what makes us tick. Still got to stop it though.

Orlando and Boston Have problems that can be solved come playoff time.

Both have names. Our names are still unknown if and when battle tested.

Orlando can still put it together.

You brought up stats to try to prove a point and got your card pulled.

I have seen Dwight Howard guard Lebron James. So unless my eyes deceive me and Amare is more athletic than Lebron James I stand by my statement. No one said Howard would keep Amare scoreless but he'd make Amare work. Amare is dead meat in the post versus Howard though.

the impact that a defensive C like Dwight Howard can have on the game can't be measured by simple statlines... he changes the way a game is played for the other team... Amare has been lights out offensively & his defense is much improved this year, but in a series of the Knicks vs. the Magic, Howard can D up Amare straight up & eliminate the need to double down on him down low, which allows all the other players to play straight up on their mean as well... guys like Gallo, Wilson & Fields who have been the beneficiary of wide open looks on the perimeter during games because of teams doubling down on Amare will no longer be seeing those easy shot opportunities anymore.

Howards is obviously a defensive beast. But he does not have much of an offensive game. Amare is a beast on offense, and outside of blocks, is not much of a defender. I would say that is pretty even impact-wise.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

They do have a deeper bench. So if I thought the Magic could win the championship--why not the Knicks--other than a bench enhancement--what exactly are we missing? This is very close to a championship team. Amare is better than ewing ever was here. I hope DW pushes the pedal for the whole gig. CANNOT touch the first 5.

they have Bass and Gortat... SIZE... we just need some SIZE!!!

The difference between 21 and 26 PPG is MUCH smaller than the difference on the defensive end.

yeah size is really important during the playoffs..you can get by during the season, but when it come to a seven game series...forgetaboutit.. unless you have a relentless 6 9"/6 10" rebounder

Howard is better than Amare. It's not just about their respective ppg/rpg production.

This should be apparent to anyone who watches the games.

Rose is not the answer.

I am very impressed with the winning streak, but C'MON SON!

I mean are you kidding? We may be able to win 2 games against ORL in a playoff series. Miami and Boston will probably destroy us. Actually we may fare better against the celts because of their age and how beat up they are after the reg season.

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

Let's wait until we at least play the Magic before we declare ourselves the winners. Felton seemed to have problems with Lawson yesterday. The small, quick players might prove too much for him on defense. And remember, Nelson has a much better J than Lawson.

I thought Orlando would win it all this year
