A deal is gonna have to be made eventually, but I don't see us giving up all 3 of those guys. DW is gonna make a fair deal and one that will help the Nuggets financially as well as a good talent swap. I know Denver doesn't want to deal with us, but they won't have a choice if Melo makes it clear this is the only team he'll do to, which I can't see how he'd accept anything else.

This is the team that has a spot for him and the fit is perfect. We already have a big and PG and he slides right in at SF. That can't be any smoother. Something is gonna get done and i'm betting that we won't give up as much as some think to get him. I mean we can offer salary cap relief, talent and i'm sure we can get a pick. That is more than enough for this kind of deal to get done. The Nuggets have to make up their minds as to when they'll do it. For now we can just keep winning and improving our bargaining position.

Bring someone in to come off the bench to play. Gallo , Fields, Chandler, someone will have to go in order for us to get Melo. We need him and a big. If we don't Amear will wear down.

Offensively I think our scorers match up pretty well with the top teams. I think our go to scorers are better then some of top teams and worse then others.

The big difference is all of these teams play better defense. There is much more room to improve on defense and a greater need.

I don't think Melo helps our defense and I don't think we're a contender without improved defense. Melo makes improving our defense more difficult because we give up cap space and assets.

Boston:

Pierce 18.5
Allen 16.6
Garnet 15.6

Miami:
Lebron 24.1
Wade 22.0
Bosh 17.9

Orlando

Howard 21.9
Carter 15
Nelson 14.6

Spurs
Ginobili 20.1
Parker 17.0
Jefferson 14.6

Dallas
Dirk 24.7
Terry 16.1
Butler 14.1

Utah
Williams 21.8
Millsap 17.9
Jefferson 17.0

LA
Kobe 26.6
Gasol 19.8
Odom 15.4

NY
Stoudemire 25.7
Felton 18.6
Chandler 16.9

We just won't take that deal and if we lose Melo we just look for a big man and a good shooter and defender big.

lol if we traded these three guys and paid melo 25mm essentially putting us in salary cap hll with no draft picks--it would be a brutal mistake. Id rather see us take AR Misgov and a couple fo draft picks and go to a team like Charlotte at some point if they keep losing and see if we can entice them into Tyrus Thomas and Walla If you add those two guys and do not subtract--then we are talking title contender this year and for the next 4-5. trading multiple current useful players would make us perilously thin and break our flexibility. We have our star.

I agree with you but I saw something in Gallo tonight and if he keeps it up!! We may have an allstar in Gallo. He is defending well and is going to the basket more. Chandler is hitting his shots. These next 25 games will tell the true pitcher of what we are deal with. We want Melo but it would be crazy to give up Chandler and Gallo.

I think they're fine with the minutes and we continue to monitor them and see how they feel. But they're going to have to play a significant bulk of the minutes. That's just the way life is. For us to be good, they're going to have to play a lot of minutes."

wow. just. wow.

im starting to understand why mda never won a ring. why his teams were burnt out by playoffs.

felton is currently 11th in the league in minutes and amare 20th. as a general rule, the top 20 in mpg include some of the leagues best players so i really don't see whats so exceptional here.

I'm not going to pay fair market value for Melo at this stage in the game, but if it came down to it and Gallo's the cost of assuring we land Melo, I have to pull the trigger.

I love Gallo. Guy is one of my favorite players and I hope to watch him blossom into a star here in NY. But I'll gladly trade potential for a proven talent like Carmelo to pair with Amar'e.

Ideally, we hold onto our young guys and sign Melo outright this summer.

"The Knicks could feature a package that includes Danilo Gallinari, Eddy Curry (and his expiring contract) and a first-round pick. Another player would also have to be part of the deal, and the Nuggets could ask for rookie Landry Fields, whom the Knicks would prefer to keep."

This is from an article about randolph in the Dailey news. Their speculation is Randolph for a draft pick. Pick, Curry, Gallo and Fields for Melo.

I don't think I would make that trade.
> Trade does not improve defense.
> Still need a center, backup PG and now a 2 guard.
> Lose flexibility of cap space and trade assets.
> Lose a lot of your opportunity for internal growth as Randolph, Gallo and fields all have room to grow.

It's not that Melo is not a great player. I just don't think offense is this teams weakness and I don't see how we fill the remaining holes once we trade our cap space and young assets.

Would you do it?
Do you think after that trade the Knicks are contenders?
If not how do you see us filling in the missing pieces?

If you wouldn't do that trade what's your max offer for Melo?

somebody tell me what the rotation is if the knicks trade fields/gallinari/chanlder for carmelo. i don't understand why the knicks "need" to do anything, they are 15-9 and only going to get better. the nuggets can F themselves if they don't want melo for a package the terms of which walsh dictates.

if the knicks make the deal seriously someone tell me what the 8man rotation is:
PG: felton
SG: bill walker
SF: melo
PF: amare
C: turiaf
6: douglas
7: shawne williams
8: i dont know, i guess randolph

regardless, that team is worse than going 8 deep with quality players. no thank you.

Why so he can get hurt again???

As for Melo, I would give up any 2 out of three combo of Landry, Gallo, and Chandler, plus AR for another first round pick, plus Curry as well. I draw the line at giving up all three...Hopefully Walsh can get him for Gallo, AR/pick and Curry, but I dont think that will get it done and I would not risk getting Melo for either Landry or Chandler. I know this team is hitting on all cylinders right now and people want to keep the unit as is, but I dont feel this way, we have to strike while the iron is hot so to speak, while our players have some value. Of course things could change and if we go through this stretch with a 600% record.

Come playoff time teams will be focusing on stopping Amare and I dont think that Gallo and Chandler will be capable of carrying us on a consistent basis, while Melo certainly can, bring him home Donnie.

I'd rather wait. This team is really starting to gel, I'd like to see what they can do without Melo first.

my final offer would be a choice of 2 players out of the Gallo/AR/Wilson trio, Curry's expiring, both our 2nd round picks & either cash considerations or a purchased 1st round pick from another source... i'd throw in Timo Mozgov as well if DEN wants him... Wilson will be gone regardless if we trade for Melo or we sign him in free agency so i don't mind losing him in this tradeoff... i would not include Landry Fields in any offer that includes Gallo or Wilson C.
