You don't have to just pick on the knicks. You could pick on allanfan.

Is he below .500?

If that's a measure of alcohol content I'd say no.

I think they did. A lot of times in the playoffs when teams were clamping down on the d, doubling and fronting Amare, you'd see Nash dribbling round and round, getting a little lost, and uncharacteristically turning the ball over. And that's Nash, a guy with impeccable judgment, ability and shooting percentage.

Consider the cases of Garnett and Gasol. Both beasted and carried inferior teams to the playoffs, but couldn't win big till they played second fiddle.

I'm not trying to take anything away from Amare, and I'm more than thrilled with what he's given us so far. And I'll be more than thrilled to make the playoffs this year, even if it's a one & done. But if we want to be greedy and win it all, I think we need a "big 3". Right now Felton and Amare are our big 2, and I'm not convinced Wilson or Gallo will emerge as go-to closer caliber players. If you want to win big you need one, and I don't see Felton or Amare as that guy either.

Patrick never won for similar reasons. Yes, let us enjoy Amare, but lets not fail him like we did Patrick either.

Hakeem the Dream teams probably the only exception. But they had Big Shot Bob and maybe Clyde the Glyde that one year.

The Rockets and Pistons won without that "closer" type of guy. If we had won game 7 we would also have done it without that guy who is that Mj, Kobe, Bird, Magic, Zeke, who handles the ball and makes something happen for himself or his teammates, but ultimately will take that shot when his team needs it. Centers usually aren't those kinds of guys cuz they need to be fed the ball and it's actually easy for teams to deny them the ball with a double or triple team. Usually that closer is a perimeter guy that can handle the ball and create his own shot. I think PHX lost for other reasons not having to do with the lack of a closer. They often didn't have the depth or size to push past the Spurs or Mavs. People tend to forget that those PHX teams weren't very deep at all.

I think we have a chance to be better defensively at least in being able to matchup with big teams if we can develop Timo and AR over the course of the year. If we can add another big even better, but right now that's the biggest weakness we have. We have bodies, but they aren't ready for primetime yet.

I was a little concerned that Amare might be too deferential but that hasn't been the case. Teams won't be sleeping on the Knicks any more. Amare has woken them the f up.

cassel was a HUGE reason they won as well. it seemed like he was always the one to hit clutch shot after shot during that run.

Amare has had a lot of playoff wins. He's shown he can carry a team and win playoff games. I think our #1 objective should be to give Amare what he's never had. A real center. I would like to keep our wings (Gallo/Chandler/Fields) together and even extend Chandler, but I would break it up if I could get a real center. If I could get Varejeo I would part w/ Chandler and AR, maybe even Douglas also right now

Amare has been rebounding like a beast lately. That was one of my main concerns.

Still concerned about his defense. He talks and looks like he cares more so I can't say it's an effort thing but so far opposing bigs have lit up the Knicks.

Gotta say I'm happy with the signing so far and look forward to what this team would look like if we got a strong defensive big to pair him with. If only Turiaf could play 40 minutes...

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

I'm not overly worried about Amar'e and his lack of man D, in that we really need to cover his back much like The Celts did with KG and Perkins. WHen you have a big that is a big part of your offense you want to make life a bit easier for him by making sure he has someone to watch his back. The Oakley role is a very important one for winning teams. I think Turiaf can cover some of that, but if we can't develop AR or Timo fast enough then we'll need to add someone else. To be honest it's the biggest thing we can do to improve the team at this point. I don't want to wear Amar'e out. Same goes for Felton. I envy the Suns in that Dragic is a perfect sub for Nash. We would be UNREAL with a backup PG like that.

I too, was ho hum about the Amare signing...I thought he was a fall back option along with the Knicks being only team willing to pay him 100 mil...That said, the guy had brought leadership I have not seen since the days on Ewing and LJ..A bit refreshing when thinking of the last 7 years or so when no player to be counted upon to say the buck stops here...Got Felton wrong too...I know its early but these two players are showing us they are winners...They won't always play at this level, the it's a foundation...They still need help to compete with the elite teams...But for now basketball is fun again, thanks to Amare and Felton...

If the Knicks are winning, we may never hear from him again.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

A lot of people were wrong about Amare, including myself.

The man is literally playing on another level even from his Phoenix days. It only took him 10 games to adjust to all the double teams and attention he's getting, and he's back to beasting.

I think you gain very little from trading for AI2.

Its really not like we're short on wing talent.

If we make a trade on that level, it has to be for a 2 guard who can get their own shot or a 5 who somehow meshes with Amar'e. I don't know who that guy is. Diaw, Big Baby, Powe, Okur come to mind. I'd rather have a few guys for the 5 who can mix and match.

I still like Sessions because he could play point when Felton needs a rest and can make things happen playing along side Felton. He could sub in at the 1 or the 2 and get 30 minutes a night that way.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

IDK, he didnt combine too well with Shaq. I think Mozgov is more the type of Center Amare needs. But Mozgov needs to improve a ton.

We need a C that won't get in the way and fits this style of offense, but can still give us the defense we need. I think they want VERY MUCH to continue to develop Timo. He's almost a perfect type of fit with a guy like Amar'e. If he can get his head on straight, he's big enough, has the agility and speed to play this style. He has a nice touch on his jumper, passes well. He's just rushing right now. Also he really needs to work on his rebounding, but overall his raw talents fit very well. You might say similar things about the raw talent of AR, but both guys are just so deep in development right now. We'll have to see if DW can get something done for right now.

This system is designed to work when you don't have that Superstar wing that historically has been on several title contenders. We can be a title contender without having a Kobe, Wade etc. We just need to continue to bolster the roster at the C and PG spot. That will improve the D and the O and give us a boost to compete against the elite teams.

Patrick never won because David Stern suspended him in the playoffs in the year we were absolutely stacked 2 deep at every position.

Ouch, don't remind me.

But that's kinda the point of having 2 or 3 studs: you have a shot even if one or two go down.
