Mos is really intimidating out there. Often when he comes in he completely changes the other teams constant penetrations. Yeah he makes stupid fouls and slips here and there but for a guy right out of Russia (who though older wasn't even getting much playing time there - that is how he slipped) he is all right in my book.

He is coming along, and better than Hasheem Thabeet, the #2 pick last year. Take that for perspective.

Just to give you an idea of how little a chance Hill was given by D'Antoni last year, Timofey needs to only play 38 more minutes to equal Hill's total career minutes as a Knick. Also, Hill is turning into a nice player. He may not ever be a guy that should have been drafted 8 but he is putting up good numbers and playing well in the minutes he gets. His play and potential were talked about during the ESPN game the other night.

a little more perspective... Mozgov is a full 2 years older than Jordan Hill was last year & still has yet to demonstrate any sort of consistent offensive skillset... in a season where expectations are to make the playoffs you would figure there would be less patience shown towards under developed rooks, & the opposite to be the case during a season where the playoffs were never a realistic expectation, especially when it comes to a rookie that was just selected with a #8 lottery pick... things are done so ass backwards around here it's ridiculous.

Hill was a victim of the timing and situation he was brought into. If he was here now he would get more of a chance. Things are different now. He also hurt himself early on. We've gone over the reasons many times. Thing is that despite the fact that Hill had more developed offensive skillset, it was more about his attitude towards prep that I think killed him at the start. You've NEVER heard or seen Moz not prep, practice or play hard. He may get overwhelmed but he goes hard. Also he's a bigger player that helps give us needed size to match up or have an advantage. Hill has talent and should be good one day, but I think once Timo get's the hang of things he'll also be a very good asset.

I guess I don't know how timing and situation could be any better for a young player to get minutes on a team not competing for a playoff spot filled with a roster of mediocre vets that were not coming back the next year. If that player is the teams lottery pick and endorsed by the coach I am even more confused if he doesn't get minutes.

There must have been something going on behind the scenes (in practice) or something the coaching staff saw in tape that they didn't like from Hill, similar to whats going on with AR today. Obviously, none of us know for sure so anything any of us say is a pure speculation. This has nothing to do with Hill being a rookie, obviously, since we see Moz and Fields getting ample minutes....

i agree with this and have been saying this since Mozgov's been getting some PT. If MDA is pulling him for bad shot selection then I do applaud him for doing that. He should not be under any circumstances be shooting that shot, whether he's wide open, on the break or what have you. Josh Smith had/has a HUGE problem with this and he's just started to reign in it in recent years. The sooner AR wises up, the better off the Knicks will be because then he becomes less of a liability on offense and do what he does best. Be active around the court and pickup rebounds, block shots and force turnovers.

For everyone saying that AR has been a huge minus on the court so far, they are mostly right however it's mostly a result of him shooting a ridiculously low percentage which should change as the season progresses.

The thing is we don't know what AR may be doing wrong outside of him taking and missing shots. Mike is the one that knows for sure what every player is supposed to be doing. AR to me has looked like a guy that has no clue what he is out there. With Timo, his role is CLEAR and for the most part he's doing what he's supposed to do. Timo is a C and as such he's gonna get more slack. He needs to stop committing bad fouls, but that isn't always hurting us. When AR is in there I don't see much from him that demands a longer look.

AR will get his chance to do more. He needs to keep working and i'm positive his time will come. Timo isn't as far off from contributing as many make it seem. If we had better passing PG's he'd already be scoring more in the paint for us. He's been open a TON so far this season. In the meantime i'll take Timo's defense, cuz it's not bad when he isn't committing dumb fouls.

apparently Mozgov must be a "good rookie" in MDA's eyes, whereas Jordan Hill & Toney Douglas were "bad rookies"

THe pop and pick that Moz has problems with is not an easy thing to master at speeds one has not experienced before.

Moz has a lot of polishing to do. he is 10-12 minutes and he is not put in pressure situations at this time. He does not hurt us and is on a short leash.

I don't see we are true contender status yet so developing him is the right thing.

If he goes to DLeague with the chuckers and stat hogs trying to get a call up to the show he won't see the ball.

Turnovers are part of the equation for rebuilding teams.

I don't see we are done rebuilding.

You want to send a 7'1" athletic center that can block and alter shots away? You gotta give this kid some time to get caught up in the NBA style play. Right now, he seems like he is in quick sand. He keeps trying hard and the harder he kicks the deeper in sand he gets. He just needs to relax and take some pointers from Turiaf. He needs to learn to move his feet and not try to block the path by just standing there like a tall wall. It works in FIBA since that is not a foul but in the NBA they call that a blocking foul. He will be fine. He is getting his blocks in limited time. The offense, one of the asst coaches mentioned that they need to re-teach him how to get your shot off in the NBA. The russian coaches tell him to hit your defender first then up. Our asst coach said he needs to use his length to get his shot off. I agree.

I really liked Jordan Hill when we had him. I always saw potential and athleticism in the guy, I did not see natural BBIQ, though he wasn't a knucklehead either. I agree it was Mike's fault he didn't get play, he could have helped us last year and I with he was still here.

That said, I see Mosgov turning into a really really good player and as I already said, he makes a HUGE difference on the defensive end. What I've noticed by watching him play and at the same time watching the box score, is that even when he is making mistakes his + - often goes +. I think it's just growing pains.

Again, look at Hasheem Thabeet, bigs take time and so far ours is having a bigger, much bigger impact than the #2 pick last year. You don't give up on bigs quickly, especially when they are doing good things.

I honestly cant remember Mosgov getting a pass when he was in position to score. They never set anything up for him offensively, EVER.

Why is Jordan Hill in this conversation? He showed up out of shape for summer league and stunk there. But this somehow reflect poorly on how he was handled here.

I like the way Mosgov is working here. He gets into most every game and has had some good moments for sure. The game is still to fast for him but he's very active and still goes full speed.

He may simply need an entire year to get used to this pace and league and style of play. It hasnt even been 20 games yet.

Part of the problem is that we've been spoiled by Fields incredible rookie season(so far) that he is making Mosgov look pale by
comparison,no pun intended. He has 15 blocks in 17 games in 12 minutes per game. He makes rookie mistakes, big surprise! It sounds
like some of you guys expect this fully formed athlete in his rookie year. Its ugly at times and it will stay that way if Moz doesn't
get the minutes to play through it. It would also help if they made him part of the offense. He gets the ball almost always 15 from
the bucket, is expected to create his own shot, or shoot a jumper. If he misses on his first try he usually doesn't get a second
chance. If he wasn't a seven foot rookie center I might understand the frustration this early in the season. Besides, its not like we
have an endless supply of centers. Trading him this season would be foolish.

You're worried about a 7ft defensive player's hands 1/4 of the way into his rookie season?

If he cuts down on fouls then he'll be extremely valuable. He can shoot and I think the hands thing is just rookie nerves.

I'm more concerned about his rebounding technique than anything.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Ive watched him... he *looks* to box out, but just doesnt seem to do it. He's very conscious of putting a body on someone, but he just doesnt get it done. Rebounding is a skill. Its not just hustle, especially in the NBA. Camby wasnt a good rebounder until JVG got his paws on him. Then he became one of the best

listen to what youre saying...

"if he cuts down on the fouls"

this guy is a "defensive player" who fouls so much that he cant play defense. I know hes a rookie but have we seen any improvement in these 16 games? No.

"the hands thing s rookie nerves"

the hands thing is a HUGE problem. This guy literally cannot catch a ball without bobbling it. Watch the games, hes getting the ball passed right into his hands wide open under the rim and hell bobble it and turn it over. Hell go for a rebound and have to taken from him. Hes SCARED OF THE BALL.

"Im more concerned about his rebounding technique"

He cant catch the ball! He can get into position to get the rebound but than he acts like hes trying to catch a live grenade.

I think we see the same things in him. Truth is, Im a huge homer and am usually the first to defend a guy, but Timo playing over AR just boggles my mind. I imagine that AR has some attitude problem behind the scenes that is putting him in Dantonis doghouse, but theres got to be a better option than Mosgov right now. He is giving us nothing, and its hurting us.

dude, you need patience. What your saying isnt wrong, but you MUST recognize that player development is a HUGE part of running a winning and successfull franchise.

Imagine if the Pacers gave up on Roy Hibbert and his 3+ fouls in 15 minutes his rookie year?

If the Knicks are going to be a bigtime team they need one or two of their young guys to becomes bigtime players. Maybe not stars, but high end rotation or bordline all star types. Mosgov's potential is a game changing defensive presense at center. Those guys take a few years to get there.

The Knicks are a playoff team as currently constructed. Whatever they lose from running out Mosgov every game doesnt matter. It just doesnt.

Moz might do better if his teammates gave him more bounce passes. Easier to catch. You see that great shovel bounce pass Felton gives to Amare in the promo? Would like to see more of that.

timo off the ball is a good player, runs the floor well gets into the action on defense and offense.

timo keeps busy which is the reason why his turnovers are noticeable. piston game you saw timo getting to the paint and losing the ball due to not being able to catch low passes. a work-around is to pass high to timo, to give him his best opportunity to score.

If it means playing AR more I'm not so sure about it. Mos is very active, always moving. I'd be willing to give Randolph another shot in limited minutes in place of Mos since he isn't playing all that well. Randolph looks more confused out there though.

This notion that Timo is just bobbling easy passes isn't true. If you watch replays, you'll see that they miss him more than they actually try to get the ball to him and when they do pass it's often late. The pass timing and location is almost always off, cuz they tend to wait before passing to him and by then it's too late. It's a trust factor. If he can get some quick passes that are made before the D gets back into the picture, he'll be able to catch and finish. Then the rest of the team will trust him more. Timo is this years Gallo from last year. They never pass him the ball when he's wide open under the basket. Also they have to stop throwing the ball at our big's feet. Both Timo and Amar'e get too many low passes. They should be getting way more lobs at the basket that they can finish.

Its pretty simple to me

Mosgov is not an NBA ready player.

We have a huge investment in Amare Stoudemire--who is an MVP type player.

We have some very nice pieces around him.

We cannot let him play so many minutes. We cant have so many roster spots stuck with nothing coming out of them.

I want to keep ALL of the starting 5 players long term yes including Chandler who is very under rated.

I am willing to deal ANYONE that was not starting yesterday including Turriaf and Douglas in the right deal. That means the whole roster with exception of yesterdays starting 5. My goal is to find pieces NOW that will push me to the next level in what has become a wide open east and NBA for that matter. Now it is up to D Walsh to improve the team and to do so before we start running Amare into the ground.

RIP Crushalot😞
