![]() Ewing clearly a better post defender, better back to the basket game.
Amare better transition player. As to who is more clutch? We'll have to see. Ewing too me was not clutch at all when you needed him most... which for me will forever put a taint on his career numbers. Amare can show flashes of being 'The Man' but has not done it with any consistency yet and at Phoenix had Nash with him. This will be a telling year, especially if we make it to the playoffs. Rose is not the answer.

![]() No disrespect to Amar'e but this is not even a real contest at this point in their careers. Ewing was a far better defender. Stat has talent there but as he himself said it's not like he was well coached there.
Jabbar , Olajuwon, Ewing these were titans. **** the rings. You could likely add Shaq in his prime. If he could just shoot his FT's Bill Simmons on Tyreke Evans

![]() I sure wish Amar'e would get a nice little baby hook working like Clyde mentioned during one of those Bobcat games. I do hope he has now fallen in love with consistent D. Some added dimension like that to Stat's game and then maybe he'll get a little closer to Ewing, but no cigar yet.

![]() With Ewing, fourth quarter deficits often just meant something great was about to happen.
Some of my favorite Knicks' moments were listening to the Garden chant "pizza". Amare can put up huge numbers, but until he becomes a better defender, I'll always consider Ewing my favorite, and most dominant Knick player. Oh good lord... https://www.youtube.com/shorts/XkmGrX7O0lQ

Shaq is arguably the greatest big to ever play the game. |

If you needed a some points he could get you some when you needed them. But he was a center in a certain era. It wasn't like he was hitting clutch 3's or 22 footers. He was clutch defensively too. Don't let the Indiana finger roll fool you. Ewing was consistent in the playoffs and regular season numbers wise. His numbers rarely ever dropped. The closest thing Ewing had to a second star was Starks, who would have been great if he was consistent. What did hurt Ewing was his guarantees. He showed up but no one ever backed him up but I can not recall a real letdown game by Ewing in the playoffs. ~You can't run from who you are.~

Sure if you need a bulldozer...but there are times and games where it takes to long to get that bulldozer in position. The others didn't have those issues...he is not the 'Diesel' for nothing. Bill Simmons on Tyreke Evans
