Same here, no need to dig deeper for no reason. He is doing just fine, and i don't think he will be traded, even for Melo. Walsh recognizes the need for great shooters in any system, so i think Gallo is safe.

The kid is showing serious offensive potential. Is he an all-star. Who knows? He may never improve another ounce, but he's showing potential. But I hate when gusy have potential but are content being just one of the guys. The only player that has ever worked out for is Robert Horry. Again, I personally don't read too much into what players say and care more about what they do. Taht being said, when I hear Gallo say "I don't need to shoot, I like to be part of the team" and similar statements then it sits in the back of my mind. Then everytime I see him with one of those 1-5 nights with 4 three pointers it makes me think.........

That's all.

Next step is to find a way to combine that humility and some more assertiveness.

I actually think the kid has an ego, but he's not overboard with it. You see it come out when he's challenged. I remember that he has always been a leader on his teams in Europe, but here he's on the highest level and realizes that he's not the best on the floor. He is making strides tho and just need to keep going. Heck wish I had that much going on at 22! This is IMO his 2nd real season. It's no surprise to me that he's not a finished product yet, so I think he may yet get to an All Star level or at the least a star player for this team.

So why are people going bonkers over statements he has made?

Did you read this thread? Who's going bonkers? Are they going bonkers or are they just responding to something he said?

Nobody thinks he's a star. Some think he has potential to be one. What's the issue with that?

I have no issue with that, seems like he has an issue with that...Seems like he is having problems in the locker room and he wants it to stop...

Sure, I read the thread as I do many others...

I don't see why others don't take his comments this way.

Jeter would say the same kind of thing, I think.

His answer is actually the classic "I'm just part of a team" vanilla answer that the more traditional type athletes throw to the press at times. Listen to Garcia on the Jets, another young player, and you will get the same type comment. I'm also sure that Fields would give you a similar answer, as would Lee.

No big deal.

During a brief stop in play, there was an interesting exchange last night, caught on camera close up, between Gallo and Stoudemire. Pure body language.

First, they appeared to converse as peers. Neither was talking down to the other. The eye-level conversation seemed to be an in-game correction they agreed on. It was subtle and at the end Gallo smiled confidently as Stat went to the free throw line. It was a conversation between team leaders figuring out how to get it done.

Second, they got it done and were both clutch on the road with a talented opponent making a fierce run in front of a boisterous crowd. The brief dialogue between two big men was a positive sign of mutual respect

He is in reality a second year player, how many are better from the last draft or last two drafts?? No he is not a star-yet. He may be getting there, after the shaky start, he is averaging close to 20 ppg and seems to get hot at the end of games-he seem to be getting it. As a starter he IS an important part of the knx. Do any of u want him to sit in the corner keep his mouth shut or sucking his thumb waiting for the coach's crumbs to be thrown his way?? Of course not.

He is growing up as a player and as a person-he is not boisterous or overly bold but is confident of his ability and seems to handle the NY media respectfully and with maturity beyond his years.
