And i get abused from lots of races being Greek...... I was raised in Bensonhurst and ran a place in Ft Greene
and was judged by a lot of people ...... In both neighborhoods .

Been around all the states and believe me Greeks get racism as much as anyone!

i'm Asian, grew up in a predominantly Italian/Irish neighborhood in Staten Island, regularly got the chinky eyes thrown in my face while growing up & have had to deal with idiots throwing racial slurs like "chink" & "Chinaman" at me most of my childhood, have had to deal with the hateful stares anytime i walked into a diner with my Asian friends in a white neighborhood, have had ignorant old white ladies say some stupid ignorant sheit like "here come the Orientals" while walking into an upscale steakhouse in downtown LA... so please do NOT preach to me about what i should feel toward racists... don't talk to me about how i need to be tolerant of people's point of view, because there is no room for racist points of view on a Knicks message board... if you want to talk about that type of sheit, i'm sure there's a forum out there that caters to it... i don't come here to have to deal with ignorance like that... like i said if u miss Cosmic so much ask the mods for his email addy & you guys go have a blast together.

In Bay Ridge in Bayside In Flushing In Whitestone and all over the City Asians get MAD RESPECT!!

In San Fran where my brother lives Chinese and Japanese got **** locked down!!

And Asians are only a minority in the US by not more minority then Greek not even close!!

Asians globally are the majority....

Stop acting like being called something is reason enough to condemn someone or reason to act like a victim ......

Taken from wikipedia. To me, its a faulty association to begin with and I don't know why such reasoning would be used. Simple speculation on the John Langdon Down's part. Even if we were to use that logic, i am not sure if people of oriental descent have any buisness getting offended by it. By being offended by it you admit that its true and that just makes no sense. It wouldn't have hurt Cosmic to apollogize for something that he didn't mean, but I saw his logic for not wanting to apologize too. Overall, one of the most awkward moments in years of following this board.

P.S. Sorry if i offended anyone, in advance. I didn't want to. Lets just try to lighten up a bit because the alternative is pretty sucky. Personal choice in the end, either way tho.

It's unfortunate that the same word can be taken as both an insult and a way to refer to people who live in a country, but you have to live with it.

Now, I think his comments were not appropriate, cause talking about handicapped people in that way is just terribly wrong, but I understood that he wouldn't apologize about the racist criticism because that was not his intent I believe. I think people who accused cosmic of being racsit didn't know or didn't realize that that word could refer to handicapped persons.

I don't know if what I wrote is clear, but I second what ramtour said basically.

For the matter, I don't remember what word Cosmic used, nor that I care anyway. But thanks for calling me ignorant TMS.

I really don't like engaging in racial discussions in a sports forum and I don't mean to show you any disrespect, but comparing Asians and Greeks is apples and oranges. Asian is a whole continent. Greece is a country. Am I right so far?

As far as TMS acting like a victim, the statement with racial undertones that Cosmic posted was directed specifically to TMS who is Korean and about a ALBA draft pick of mine, Angel Locsin, who is Filipina. I think you can probably understand why this is a sore subject.

Discussions in UK has been great, Knick-centric or off-topic. We have fair moderators and they have a set of rules. Cosmic was asked to refrain from the discussion but he did not.

I learned a long time ago not to get drawn into a fight like this. This is a forum about our beloved Knicks. We love them some days and other days we hate them. MARTIN!
