Walsh's biggest error is hiring D'Antoni instead of Scott Skiles or Avery Johnson. At the time these were the options he had narrowed it down to and he made the absolute wrong choice.
t put any blame on himself and his teams never play any defense. D'Antoni is awful.

I like both of those coaches, they are passionate and preach defense. The only thing about them is that you better have enough talent to be competitive because they are two very intense individuals and tend to wear out their team in a few seasons. Says more about the players I suppose than the coaches. Its a players league.

They needed to come away from that draft with Stephen Curry, Rubio or Brandon Jennings and did not.

The man said he didn't grab the best guy out there and a mistake was made in the draft. What exactly is he value of repeating this over and over again?

Drafting a guard was not gonna work for us not only cause we missed both guys we wanted Curry ( First choice mind u)... And
Rubio we missed so in our eyes the cap was more precious ....... Hill was drafted cause he was most Athletic big
Bigs have more trade value..... And no matter what anyone is saying now Jennings was a risk.

$4 million in cap space mind u........ So we gamble on Jennings and then we only have room for 1 max plus 12 million
in Le****balls sweepstakes.... We rolled dice and came out second best.

Siht happens !!!!!

We have had a glimpse of how good this team can be running right and on all cylinders yet we are looking for
reasons to blame someone for something...

No one judging Walsh has the balls nor the brains that he does..... He started something that the WHOLE league
followed HIS LEAD........ We started having to make tough decisions 2 years ago and got a whole **** load of press
about...... Right as we got were we wanted everyone else joined along...... Miami would of just got Bosh if the Heat
didn't sell the house...... Chicago threw Hinrich and the 18th pick in the draft in the trash just for a chance @
one player....

I'm not Walsh's daddy but for real you guys realize he came in a wheelchair to make his pitch!!!

We got better just need time to gel......

Lay off all the negativity.....

KNICKS on the way UP!!!

I'm not harping on it - I'm saying that is the biggest error of his tenure. Walsh needed to hit a home run in the draft and trading up for Curry or just selecting Jennings would have been a home run and may have swayed Lebron.

I don't think hiring D'Antoni was a mistake. I think that was a good move.

In hindsight, you have to wonder now about the decision to trade Jamal Crawford and Zach Randolph for the poo poo platter they got in return. Jamal won Sixth Man and ZBO was an all-star. That team started 6-3, the best stretch for any D'Antoni team. Maybe we should have ridden that out for a season and tried to make moves in the 2009 off-season?

But it's easy for all the armchair quarterbacks to make hindsight moves after the fact.

I have understood every move Donnie has made here and I don't think any of them were reckless or stupid... but not too many of them have worked out so far. GM of the Knicks may be one of the tougher jobs in sports, or at least inheriting the mess Isiah left certainly was.

whoa, thought this was interesting. tommy dee has a poll on his knicks blog about the mcgrady trade, asking if fans were content with making it:

Are you content with the McGrady Deal?

Yes (93%, 2,406 Votes)
No (7%, 186 Votes)
Total Voters: 2,592

seems like a bunch of knicks fans understand that without cap room for two max deals, we likely weren't even getting Amar'e. just a very vocal 7% who opposes the deal.

saw that. I have to remind myself constantly that forums and discussion boards, especially when things are down, are always dominated by the dissatisfied. Sports, politics, product feedback, etc.

That wasn't a UK poll was it? Also, it still doesn't make that not an extremely bad trade. That trade rivals the Curry trade as far as long term impact on the Knicks franchise.

The tommy dee poll has been up since the McGrady trade; hence the high # of votes.
