classless statement... a well placed elbow to the chops the next time they play should settle this.

I don't get it. He said "You're a cancer patient." Does CV have cancer? Seems like a stupid comment that I would have just ignored.

I've said many times it's offensive as all hell when people call certain athletes "A locker room cancer" yet we're ganging up on Garnett for this. For the record, he's a scumbag for this. If he's "heavily involved" with cancer awareness and then goes and says something like that to someone who has a disorder (Which I forget what it is exactly), he should just stop what he does with the charity work. It means nothing now, and I hope the next time an actual cancer patient does see him, he tells KG to take a hike.

BTW, did anyone here actually watch the entire game? How do you know CV DIDN'T give KG a nice elbow to the chops or the gut for that?

Blueseats, this is sports, but there's some things said that's beyond sports and this is one of them. KG should get suspended for this and he should apologize to CV (As well as the cancer patient population) publicly and privately.

he has Alopecia areata, a condition that causes him to lose his hair... commenting on his physical appearance & calling him a cancer patient when his hair loss is caused by a physical ailment is completely classless & KG deserves a nice elbow to the chops for making it... if he had any sense at all, he would apologize to Villanueva publically.

calling someone a cancer patient because of the way he looks is way different than labelling someone as a clubhouse cancer because of his destructive behavior & team killing attitude... i'm not saying using the cancer label is right, but there is a huge distinction there.

I say worse to friends over a beer. People need to have a sense of humor, proportion and context. This was said man-to-man, CV is the one broadcasting it and maximizing it's damage.

He might destroy the locker room feeling and make people uncomfortable, but 1) Do we call people cancer to those same types of people at our regular jobs? Highly unlikely. 2) Does he actually KILL the people? No. He probably pisses a lot of people off and bursts some egos and at worst, causes the team to lose or make a coach lose his job (Which most likely means he probably would have been fired anyway because he can't control his players.. plus he'll find another job anyway or retire with his millions), but he doesn't kill people and cause tragedy for millions upon millions of others. I ust don't understand why people refuse to put that simple fact into perspective. It's a terrible and not to mention thoughtless metaphor.

Looks like CV couldn't agree more:

"KG talks alot of crap, he's prob never been in a fight, I would love to get in a ring with him, I will expose him," another tweet reads.

apparently kg responded to this last night:

KG Disputes Villanueva’s “Cancer Patient” Allegation
November 3rd, 2010 by Brian Robb Leave a reply » Kevin Garnett just released a statement through the Celtics commenting on the earlier Twitter allegation by Charlie Villanueva in which he accused Villanueva of calling him a “cancer patient:”

“I am aware there was a major miscommunication regarding something I said on the court last night, my comment to Charlie Villanueva was in fact, ‘You are cancerous to your team and our league.’ I would never be insensitive to the brave struggle that cancer patients endure. I have lost loved ones to this deadly disease and have a family member currently undergoing treatment. I would never say anything that distasteful. The game of life is far bigger than the game of basketball.”
A couple things on the statement. First and foremost, I believe Garnett. He owned up to saying cancer, making Villanueva look a bit more credible. I was surprised by the intital allegation despite his history of trash talk and perhaps even more surprised by KG staying silent for awhile, making me believe the comment was true.

With the disputation out now though, it’s disappointing KG couldn’t get this statement out of the way a few hours earlier. Obviously with the team traveling home late last night, the C’s possibly weren’t even aware of the situation and bad publicity for KG until at some point earlier today. A statement earlier though would have likely helped put a stop to the firestorm of criticism that came KG’s way in the interim. Now, some of that could linger, though it shouldn’t.

CelticsHub will be live at the Garden tonight however and will keep you posted on any further comments from KG on the situation.

This is what his trash talk comment was: ‘You are cancerous to your team and our league.’?

I don't see how anyone could believe him, unless you are such a diehard celtic fan that the rational part of your brain has stopped working.

Next, he'll admit to having said this during a game: 'Thy bones are marrowless, thy blood is cold.'

Better if he came out and admitted it, apologized for the thoughtlessness of it. He wasn't thinking, in the heat of the game- wanted to say something hurtful. And he's sorry.

We could all move on.

Instead, this denial reeks of a lie, and will likely keep this out there as an issue.

Saw it...he likes to throw an elbow and act like it was accidental and then raise his hands up like he did nothing.

this stuff is on tape- why doesn't stern get involved, and warn him not to pull this crap.

I think the refs noticed because it was a double technical- but really, they should have just given Garnett one.

refs cant give a tech to just garnett in that instance b/c bogut retaliated and shoved him afetrwards. what bogut should have done was come over to kg after he threw the elbow and instead of a shove, just smile and give him a hug and big kiss on the forehead....that wouldve made KG look like a str8t fool.
