No Randolph tomorrow.

Then we have a chance.

Randolph is seriously overrated by many on this board but we need him to play so he can improve.

Last year we were in a mini win streak, we tried to get Eddy Curry going, force-fed him some minutes off the bench, and it totally took the offense out of its rythym. I fear that we're going to do the same with AR -- Just to pump up his value artificially with stats.

AR is a turnover and bad-shot machine. He gets lost on defense and can't bang inside.

His upside is Tim Thomas to me.

He's the same guy who had 8 blocked shots in one Q last year. Its pretty simple--the guy isnt playing the same since his injury--is it his fault--I would say yes--if you work hard at a young age coming off injury you should be fine. His shoulders do not look defined--his body looks sopft and he has what looks like 1/2 the lift and 10% of the energy he brought to the table yera 1. There were plenty fo nBA players who thought he was a future all star came out and said it--its just a few Knick fans who really have never seen him--or only caught him in glimpses that have been on his jock--although he did suck this pre season. I think its in the Knicks and ARs bets interests to go to the D league adn play 10 games HARD find his confidence and work hard with the weights before coming back--thats my opinion but I think Im right.

I want to believe that there will be a big difference between how the Knicks treat Curry last year and AR this year and going forward. They Knicks were desperate to try trade Curry. If they could find a sliver of a hope of getting that done, they would have force fed (holy bad phrasing) Curry over and over, but they aren't really in that same position as with AR. Remember, Curry is a 1-trick pony at this point in his career, if we can even consider that 1 trick useful.

AR needs coaching and time on court and health and an understanding of what he needs to do and what to avoid.

I don't disagree but what does sending an NBA guy to the D-league do to his psyche? Do you think the ego's are so fragile that they would look at the D-league as a downgrade and become restless? I guess it really depends on the player and their maturity level.

You can't send AR to the D League and think that's gonna do it. This kid has to learn where he fits in on this level. He'll go down to the D league and dominate due to his physical superiority. On this level that's not enough. He has to learn the fine points of the game too. He has to learn to read what's happening and think the game, which it's clear he has near ZERO BB IQ. His former coaches did a horrible job with him. Now we have to give him a crash course in BB 101.

When you see a pro continually crash into double teams like that you realize he doesn't think when he's out there. Much like Curry who did similar things, AR is playing off pure talent and on this level you can't do that and be successful.

I like the idea of physically sending him down but he would be playing a type of Street/Summerleague ball and that might suit him just fine.

IN fact, he might do so well he might not want to come back!

I think he need to learn to play with the system until it becomes automatic and thus its best to keep him practicing with the pros and play 15 min a nite.

Im usually wrong and Im likely wrong again.

D-league is what it is, for on the fringe of being out of the league players to find their game, AR is far from being out of the league, he would dominate there not contributing to his development. I think he'll be fine, he has all the tools knows how to use them, he just needs to get his head around the game, not just his athletic abilities...

Randolph is going to be a very good player and may even be a better all around player than Amare eventually (2-3 years). He's already very good at the things that players don't get better at (rebounding, blocking shots, and athleticism). Just look at his per 36 minute stats for 2 years at Golden State. He was excellent.

What he doesn't do well are all the things that take time for young players a long time to get good at.

He has to improve his shooting, reduce his turnovers, make better decisions etc... Those are all the things that take some time. He's only 21 and lost a full year to injury. So he's behind. But by the 2nd half of the season he's going to be a key contributor to the team and on the path to stardom.

I agree. All of which means this team will take its lumps (losses) as we 'grow'.

Which is why I made the comment that we have a chance to win tonight since AR is out.
