The decision to trade Ewing was on Checketts, but the choice of the players the Knicks got back are on Layden.

As Van Gundy reminded us, it was good for Pat to go, bad for the Knicks.

Pat Wanted out. Blame him. All good marriages hit the tough spots, his contract should have expired with us.

But who knows, we could have signed Grant Hill with that money!

Van Gundy predicted the Knicks will be back in the playoffs this season with Stephon Marbury and said he will be "surprised" if they don't advance beyond the first round. He said the talent level was there even before the Marbury trade, but Chaney struggled because of injuries and all the adjustments to new personnel.
